Netflix Confirms UK, Ireland Streaming Plans

Netflix has confirmed earlier rumors that it would launch its popular streaming entertainment service in the United Kingdom and Ireland in "early 2012."

Netflix said further details about the UK service, including the important stuff like pricing, content and supported devices, will be announced at a later date closer to launch. Back in July rumors began to circulate about the company's plan to enter into the lucrative European market. At the time Netflix had no comment.

In the U.S. Netflix is available on a wide range of devices including Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and 3DS, as well as on PCs, Macs, tablets, phones, Roku devices, and Internet capable TV's. No word on if the company plans to brings its disc services to those regions, though it's highly unlikely. When it launched in Canada, the company offered streaming only.
