According to a Gamsasutra based on a translation of a Nikkei from Andriasang, Nintendo is expected to announce a ¥100 billion ($1.32 billion) pre-tax loss as part of its six months financial results. Nintendo's loss is larger than expected, according to the Japanese newspaper, because of the strength of the Yen compared to the Euro. The exchange rate equates to ¥40 billion ($526.16 million) of the total loss. The overall loss is twice as much as Nintendo had expected.
Nintendo's original estimate was a ¥55 billion ($723.47 million) loss for the fiscal first half. This compares to a net loss of ¥25.5 billion ($324.1 million) that Nintendo previously reported for the fiscal quarter that ended on June 30. That puts the company at a ¥74.5 billion ($979.97 million) loss in the last quarter.
Nintendo's current guidance projects revenues of ¥175 billion ($2.3 billion) for the quarter ending September 30, versus an analyst predictions of around ¥146 billion yen ($1.91 billion).

If only there were three games that Nintendo could release in North America to drive interest in the Wii.

True. I mean, the cycle's over. One last GOLDEN SMASH HIT, and the Wii is gone. The economy's not helping any. The only problem is the 3DS. I'm not even going to start with that one. It's got problems... not bugs, just bad marketing decisions. Hopefully, the fall/holiday line-up can turn things around.
