Sadly we missed the beginning of this year's Desert Bus for Hope charity, but the good news is that it is still going on and you can get involved if you haven't already.
In case you are not familiar with this torturous charity event, the goal is to spend 134 hours playing the awful game Desert Bus - probably one of the most boring games ever made in the history of gaming. Basically the game charges you with driving from Tucson, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada. The trip is 360 miles long, which must be completed without stopping. The bus only goes 45 MPH and pulls to the right slightly. The game was part of a 1995 Penn & Teller produced video game for the Sega CD called Smoke and Mirrors, but the publisher went bankrupt before it could be released. One of the mini-games in the package was Desert Bus.
The team from LoadingReadyRun (the popular web show that appears on The Escapist) take on the challenge of driving the bus without crashing, which is all telecast on the charity's official site. In addition to the bus driving the LRR team has a number of charity auctions, special guests, wacky contests and plenty of famous people calling in to entertain the audience.
You can get involved by visiting desertbus.org or follow their antics on Twitter. All the proceeds go to the Child's Play charity. So far the Desert Bus for Hope has managed to raise an impressive $126,526.99.
Thanks to Dorthlous for reminding us.

Re: Desert Bus for Hope on the Road Again
W00t for the cause, minor w00t for the first article mention. ^^
P.S.: The numbers of hours driven is directly dependent to the amount of money donated, 134 h was only the amount at the moment GamePolitics checked on it.
