According to a new survey by career services firm Glass Door, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus is not very popular. In fact, the head of the social game development firm has a 46 percent approval rating, compared to the average CEO rating of 62 percent. Anyone that follows politics knows that if you are below 50 percent approval rating then there's a serious problem with what you are doing - or at least people's perceptions of what you are doing..
Zynga is on the verge of an IPO, and the past few days could certainly have gone better for the data-driven gaming company. More unflattering news against the company has hit, this time directly relating to the CEO of the company, Mark Pincus. In a survey conducted by Glass Door, a career services firm, the approval rating for Pincus only managed to hit 46 percent, far below the average rating of 62 for most CEOs.
Glass Door conducted the survey before the company mandated a media blackout leading up to the initial public offering. Glass Door did not disclose how many people actually responded, only noting that their sample included 20 written responses that cover the "width of the company."
As VentureBeat points out, Pincus has an approval rating equivalent to CEOs such as recent Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz and former Hewlett Packard CEO Leo Apotheker. Clearly this is not a good thing to have floating around prior to an Initial Public Offering.
Further, the survey offered a number of responses - supposedly from people that have worked there in the past or are currently employed there. One response paints a pretty negative picture of what you can expect as an employee of Zynga:
"If you are under 25, have no kids, love the smell of dog and want to get fat eating all kinds of free food, by all means, apply," said one written response provided by Glass Door. "It will be the extension of the dorm-living that you will need right after college. Professionals who want to complete an entire design/develop/iterate/deploy/and document cycle will find the going is tough."
Ouch.

Re: Zynga CEO Gets a 46 Percent Approval Rating from Employees
I'm not the biggest Mark Pincus fan in the world, but I wouldn't put too much stock on the "scientific accuracy" of that result.
It's a self-selective group. It's bound to have more negative reactions than positive.

...and in other news, Zynga announced today that they're cutting 54% of their workforce...
