According to internal sales figures revealed by EA's CFO Eric Brown, Battlefield 3 has managed to sell 8 million copies of the 12 million it has shipped worldwide on various platforms including the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Speaking at the Baird Technology Conference in San Francisco, Brown highlighted the game's sales numbers a month after the game launched. The game managed to sell five million copies in the first week of its release. EA Hopes that the game will see further sales during the holiday shopping season.
Next month EA will release the first downloadable content for the game. Battlefield 3 will receive its first map-pack update with a bundle of classic Battlefield maps from previous games in a package it is calling 'Back to Karkand'. Exact dates and pricing have not been announced. Naturally EA hopes that this DLC will generate millions of extra dollars for the franchise.

Re: Battlefield 3 sells 8 Million of 12 Million Units Shipped
Now that we all know that MW3 is completely pale in comparison to BF3 sales should continue to be strong of BF3 for a while still. As far as I am concerned BF3 is Game of the year with Skyrim as a very close second.
