Richard Flamm, Nintendo of America's general counsel of note for 12 years, will retire in the spring. While Flamm has served as GC for 12 years he has actually been a Nintendo of America employee for 19 years; prior to being named GC, he managed the company's anti-piracy team. In that role he fought against counterfeit Pokémon products, adult websites trying to use Nintendo characters in naughty ways, devices used to copy software on various platforms, and cyber squatters.
"We sincerely appreciate and want to recognize all Rick has accomplished, not only for Nintendo of America, but also for Nintendo globally," said company chairman Tatsumi Kimishima. "His passion for the business and the outstanding efforts and results of his team are unparalleled."
What Flamm will do post-Nintendo is unknown but we hope it involves sandals, a lawn chair and a cold beer. Nintendo has not revealed who will replace him as of this writing.
