With the second major overhaul of the Xbox 360 dashboard ready to go tomorrow during a major system update, GameSpot notes that some promised services seem to be conspicuously absent from it. Microsoft had said previously that a slew of new services would make their way to Xbox Live with this update. Some of those services have been pushed back to "late December," while a bunch of other services won't make it onto the Xbox 360 until early 2012.
In the US, Crackle, iHeartRadio, TMZ, UFC, Verizon FiOS, VEVO, Vudu, and YouTube will launch later this month. Some of the bigger services such as CinemaNow, HBO GO, MLB.TV, and Xfinity on Demand won't be launched until early 2012.
The 2011 dashboard update will bring the interface in sync with the Metro design language and style used in Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8. The Kinect will also be more deeply integrated with the new firmware, allowing for motion-controlled and voice-powered menu navigation. Finally, Bing search will be integrated into Xbox Live Marketplace searches, including support for select content partners. We are hoping that Kinect navigation will finally be real in Netflix...

Re: Major Xbox 360 Dashboard Update Doesn't Include New ...
Hrm... I dunno about this. While I like the idea of usurping the cable companies entirely, M$ would have to do a hell of a lot more in terms of content for me to really get behind something like this.
I'd like to see live streaming of TV channels. I don't think it'd be terribly difficult to figure out local channels by ip address/hostname. Further, it'd get people using the 360 a lot more.
