The Nintendo 3DS Video Telethon

December 29, 2011 -

Nintendo announced that it will host what it calls a "telethon" to promote its Nintendo video services on the 3DS. When you think of telethons, you might imagine Jerry Lewis helping to raise money for muscular dystrophy, or St. Jude's raising money for kids with cancer, so perhaps using the term "telethon" is a bit presumptuous on Nintendo's part.

The point of the telethon, which we assume will "air" on the 3DS video channel, is to promote all of the user created videos of 2011. Viewers will be able to call in to the event, and vote for their favorite videos. At the end of it all Nintendo will announces the most popular videos.

Here's what they say in their official press release:

"Wondering what you’ve missed on Nintendo Video? Wish you could see your favorite videos again and vote for your favorite video of 2011? Check out the Nintendo Video New Year’s Telethon running from 6:00pm EST December 31, 2011 until 2:00am EST January 2, 2012. We’ll be running the classics from 2011 and taking your calls and votes! The video receiving the most votes will be featured on Nintendo Video for 5 days for everyone to enjoy and for the winning voters to bask in their glory!"

ConsterOn a side-note, I wonder who the 4 people are who downvote *every* comment IP makes, even the ones where he isn't picking a fight (yes, those exist).05/30/2015 - 6:31pm
E. Zachary KnightWonder, Iron contributes comments in a number of articles, not just Gamergate related ones.05/30/2015 - 6:30pm
WonderkarpConster, BIG difference is we engage in many discussions outside of anything related to GG. I myself have apologized for my actions on a previous date when I was an Ass. While IP swarms anyting GG related like a Moth to a Flame(Wont feed Troll after this)05/30/2015 - 6:29pm
ConsterWhile I do believe IP needs to stop doing what he's doing (and have for some time), let's not pretend he's not engaging in the same kind of behavior pro-GG'ers have engaged in on this site (just more loudly, more obvious, and more blowhardy).05/30/2015 - 6:26pm
Wonderkarpmight remotely go against his "Narrative" and takes the opportunity to parrot ad hominem. here's no real discussion or discourse with him. He's the Textbook Definition of Troll. A Troll I no longer intend to feed beyond this post05/30/2015 - 6:18pm
WonderkarpAndrew, big reason what Iron Patriot does is Harassment is that the only thing he ever posts on is anything remotely related to GamerGate, and its either a general statement with lots of Hashtags and HAHAHAs and whatnot or he takes every comment that05/30/2015 - 6:16pm
ConsterCalling IronPatriot an "it" in the same comment in which you say he dehumanizes you might not be the best of ideas.05/30/2015 - 6:15pm
MattsworknameI think Ip needs to go watch some Team four star and laugh a bit, he seems to serious at times. I think he'd get a kick outta Hellsing ultimate abridged.05/30/2015 - 5:36pm
DocMelonheadPretty much05/30/2015 - 5:33pm
InfophileSo... he's sea-lioning? http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/sea-lioning05/30/2015 - 5:29pm
Goth_SkunkAnd those are examples just targeting me specifically. Nevermind targeting others like Mattsworkname or DocMelonhead or WonderKarp.05/30/2015 - 5:28pm
DocMelonheadWhich is why it's fitting to call him/her a troll; bait the GG sympathizer and attack them through guilt of supporting a hate movement05/30/2015 - 5:28pm

MattsworknameThe being said, Ip loves to demand you answer specific claims and when you do, he then immedately shifts to another tactic rather then address your repsonses05/30/2015 - 5:23pm
MattsworknameThe problem is that gamergate has no organization or leaders so no one can really claim direct libel unless they got directly named and attacked. The double edged sword of internet activism at work.05/30/2015 - 5:22pm
DocMelonhead@InfoPhile true, but it seems like Iron Patriot been shoving his/her opinion down the the throats of GG sympathizer.05/30/2015 - 5:19pm
InfophilePlus, it discusses a movement, not a person. Libel usually only applies to people in the US (though some countries, like the UK, will hear libel cases against organizations)05/30/2015 - 5:16pm
DocMelonheadBut don't have Iron Patriot get to you Goth_Skunk. He/she just wanted GamerGater to GTHO of GamePolitics and back into their basement.05/30/2015 - 5:16pm
InfophileTo be libel, it has to be a statement of fact, not a matter of opinion. That's easily construable as an opinion, as it reflects on the perceived goals of a movement05/30/2015 - 5:15pm
DocMelonheadI think that GamerGate is nothing but a Failed attempt to kick Women out of Gaming is libel enough.05/30/2015 - 5:13pm
