Make the Game 2012 Launched

January 3, 2012

Magazine publisher Computec Media announced details on the second round of its international game developer contest, Make the Game 2012. Indie developers interested in registering for the international browser and social games competition have until April 16 to do so. This year Computec Media plans to invest 1 million Euros in the contest to find the best new browser and social network games. Entries will be judged by a five-member jury of "experts," who will ultimately award prizes to up to three promising games.

The jury includes Felix Röker (Vice President of International Development, Havok), Petra Fröhlich (Editor in Chief, PC Games), Florian Stangl (Editor in Chief, Online Computec Media), and Hans Ippisch (Publishing Director, Computec Media). The winner will be presented at gamescom 2012 in Cologne, Germany later in the year.

"'Make the Game' already developed into an internationally recognized brand in its first year, due to strong participation from various different countries," according to Hans Ippisch, the publishing director of Computec. "We were amazed by the quality of the games that were submitted. We hope to surpass this high standard in 2012."

Berlin-based developer Slipshift won the top prize with its futuristic strategy browser game Reborn Horizon. The game has been in open beta since October 1, and is being prepped by Computec Media for an international release.

Anyone who wants to submit a game to "Make the Game 2012" can register at www.makethegame.de.
