Update: Here we go again... Edge is reporting that the company still needs funding for the game, according to GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky:
"We are still in the process of seeking funding to back up the project," GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky told Edge. "We are hopeful things turn out well eventually. The team really wants to see STALKER continue."
They say this leads them to believe that CEO and founder Sergei Grigorovich has moved on. We concur.
Original Story: According to a post to the official Facebook page for STALKER 2, the game has not been canceled and work has resumed on the follow-up to the popular shooter from GSC Game World. Fans may see the new message as slightly dubious because back in December the company said it was closing and then said it was not closing a few minutes later. You can read about that in this report.
From the official Facebook page:
"The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays."
We'll have to wait and see if this is actaully true given the previous flip-flops from the company, but for now fans should be cautiously optimistic.
STALKER 2 is planned for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
