Sony announced plans to release the multiplayer component of Guerrilla Games' Killzone 3 as a standalone download on the PlayStation Network, but the best part of this news is that it will be free to play. Sony made the announcement during the most recent episode of the Sony Blogcast. The one caveat is that level progression will be capped, though to what extent or exact point we do now know. This means that players won't have access to certain skills and weapons that are beyond whatever level cap they chose.
To gain access to them, you'll have to spend $14.99 for the full multiplayer experience. Still, free with caveats is a lot better than getting a simple limited trial version of the game before buying it. Source: C&VG
