GamesBeat 2012, VentureBeat's fourth annual conference on "disruption in the video game market," has already lined up a number of major players in the video game industry who will either give keynotes or participate in discussions during the event.
Recently confirmed speakers include Mark Pincus, Founder, CEO & CPO, Zynga; Will Wright, Founder, Hive Mind & Stupid Fun Club; Peter Vesterbacka, Mighty Eagle, CMO, Rovio; Kristian Segerstrale, Executive VP, Digital, EA; Jamie Berger, Vice President of Digital, Activision; Peter Relan, Founder & Chairman, YouWeb; Bing Gordon, Partner, KPCB; and Tim Schafer, Double Fine.
The event will also include the “Who's Got Game” Startup Competition. GamesBeat hand-selects the seven most exciting companies from the submission pool and invites them to make pitches live onstage in front of an expert panel of judges and 500+ industry execs, entrepreneurs, investors, and media. The best one is chosen and served punch and cookies. Okay, there's no punch and cookies, but whoever judges select as the most promising startup (based on the criteria of "freshness," "innovation," and "potential for business success") will receive a feature-length VentureBeat article, introductions to game investors in the GamesBeat network, and other prizes to be determined (perhaps that punch and cookies options is still on the table.).
