Blizzard Commits to Gamescom 2012

June 29, 2012 -

Blizzard Entertainment may not be hosting the BlizzCon fan event this year, and it may have opted out of E3 last month but the one event it does plan on attending this year is Gamescom. Gamescom will be held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany from Wednesday, August 15 to Sunday, August 19. During the event European fans will be able to check out playable content from all three major of Blizzard's franchises including the next World of Warcraft expansion, the next Starcraft II expansion, and Diablo III.

In addition to the premiere of the opening cinematic from World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria on August 16, fans will also be able to check out the demo as well as spend some quality time with the second Starcraft II expansion, Heart of the Swarm. And for those of you that have been living under a rock or trapped in a mineshaft, you'll be able to check out Diablo III.

Other activities planned by Blizzard for the event includes a developer meet and greet and signing sessions at the Blizzard booth, live World of Warcraft Raid sessions, pro-gamer battles in Starcraft II, a live orchestra performing many familiar tunes from Blizzard's many games, costume and dance competitions, quizzes, giveaways, and more.

Blizzard Entertainment will be setting up shop in booth B21 in Hall 6.1.
