Megaupload Founder: Vice President Joe Biden Directly Involved in Megaupload Takedown

July 5, 2012 -

Speaking to TorrentFreak, Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom alleges that Vice President Joe Biden ordered the Megaupload shutdown at the behest of former Connecticut Senator (D) and current Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) President Chris Dodd. He claims that he has information from a "reliable source" that the Megaupload case and the subsequent takedown of the file storage site was a "gift to Hollywood."

"I do know from a credible source that it was Joe Biden, the best friend of former Senator and MPAA boss Chris Dodd, who ordered his former lawyer and now state attorney Neil MacBride to take Mega down," Dotcom told TorrentFreak.

Dotcom had hinted in the past that the Vice President was involved in the Megaupload case in a tweet. That tweet, called "Lovebirds" showed Vice President Biden and Dodd in a friendly embrace.

Dotcom goes on to say that the case was discussed in a meeting in the White House sometime in June of 2011 with Chris Dodd, the Vice President, CEO of Warner Bros Entertainment Barry Meyer, CEO of Paramount Pictures Brad Grey, Managing Director of MPA Asia Pacific Michael Ellis, Vice Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Jeff Blake, President of Universal Studios Ronald Meyer, MPAA Senior Executive Vice President for Global Policy and External Affairs Michael O’Leary, Robert Regan, and Chairman of Walt Disney Studios Rich Ross.

"After we received information from an insider we scanned the White House visitor logs for all meetings of Chris Dodd and studio bosses with Joe Biden and Obama. They are publicly available on the White House website," Dotcom told TorrentFreak. "It is interesting that a man by the name of Mike Ellis of MPA Asia, an extradition expert and former superintendent of the Hong Kong police, was also at a meeting with Dodd, all studio bosses and Joe Biden. The same Mike Ellis met with the Minister of Justice Simon Power in New Zealand."

DotCom promises to release what they know when the time is right, but for now he's playing it close to the vest.

"At the appropriate time we will release what we know. The whole Mega case is quite the political thriller," Dotcom concludes.

Meh, I had no love for this VP anyway. He can eat a dick. For every copyright case they "took care of", they murdered even more legit uses for Mega Upload. Lots of abandoned mods are now officially dead.

Re: Megaupload Founder: Vice President Joe Biden Directly ...

its not surprising, but it is evidence of just how much of a b**** the government is for these tyrannical corporations.

Re: Megaupload Founder: Vice President Joe Biden Directly ...

Why not since Biden is an IP Nazi.

Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Let's renegotiate them.

Yeah, I'm trying to fathom how this is surprising at all.
