Minecraft developer Mojang has teamed up with the United Nations to create a new initiative called Block By Block.
The new initiative hopes to get young people engaged in the planning process in urban areas, using Minecraft as a virtual workspace. The new initiative is a three-year partnership between Mojang and UN Habitat. By the end of it, organizers hope to upgrade around 300 public spaces. In addition to providing the tools, Mojang is also financially supporting Block By Block and will work closely with the UN to help reach each target as they are laid out. The first test of the initiative is a pilot test site in Kibera, one of Nairobi’s settlements.
