On the heels of Zynga lowering its outlook for the third-quarter and several research firms downgrading its stock, there's even more bad news for the publicly-traded social game developer and publisher. According to this GamesBeat report, Omgpop founders and Words With Friends co-creators have left Zynga. Paul and David Bettner, the creators of the enormously successful Words With Friends game for mobile and Facebook and other Zynga With Friends titles, announced their departure.
In a phone interview with GamesBeat, the brothers confirmed their exit but did not disclose what they plan to do next.
"We are still very excited about the future and feel like we are at the beginning," Paul Bettner told GamesBeat.
Zynga has lost a steady stream of high profile executives and other tilted individuals in the last few months: Paul and David Bettner joins chief security officer Nils Puhlmann, Omgpop's Wilson Kriegel, COO John Schappert, CityVille general manager Alan Patmore, chief creative officer Mike Verdu, vice presidents Bill Mooney and Brian Birtwistle, CTO Allan Leinwand and chief marketing officer Jeff Karp.
