DS game funding on Kickstarter is a rarity, but Island Officials is giving it a shot after seeing the success of Jason Rohrer's Diamond Trust of London. The indie studio is seeking a pretty specific funding goal of $85,412 to fund the development of a DS game about a robot and his seven friends who enjoy having adventures and solving pattern block puzzles. The game is called Orion's Odyssey and is being billed as a "comedy-puzzle game." The game's developers were looking for a publisher but that didn't work out so they have decided to turn to the gaming community at large to fund the game.
So why the precise funding goal? Well they finally found a publishing partner, but the undisclosed company said that it would only help get the game through Nintendo's submission process if the developers can cover all the costs.
So far Orion's Odyssey has managed to raise $3,569 of its $85,412 goal from 88 backers with 46 more days to go. You can watch the pitch video to you left and you can contribute here.
