Book publisher Seven Stories Press announced today that it will publish the English language version of the book about independent game Minecraft and its creator Markus 'Notch' Persson at the end of this year. The book is called "Minecraft; The Unlikely Tale of Markus "Notch" Persson and the Game that Changed Everything, and was written by Swedish journalists Linus Larsson and Daniel Goldberg, with the English translation being handled by Jennifer Hawkins.
The book is based on exclusive interviews and research from the two authors, who had unprecedented access to Notch and present an intimate look into his past and the gaming landscape in Sweden and around the world over the past ten years. The film rights to the book have been sold and production is scheduled to begin later this year.
Seven Stories also announced that it is partnering with Mojang to crowd-source photos of Minecraft creations from players to be included in a full-color photo insert in the upcoming book. For more information see the Mojang Facebook page. The fourth annual Minecraft convention MineCon will be held somewhere in the U.S. this year, and Linus Larsson and Daniel Goldberg will be there signing copies of the book. They will also hold a book tour to Chicago and New York following the conference.
Look for the book on November 5 in the United States.
