Entropia Universe Player Buys Moon for $150K

May 10, 2013 -

Swedish MMO developer MindArk announced today that a recently discovered moon in its long running MMO Entropia Universe was auctioned off for $150,000, or 1.5 million PED in the game's virtual currency. The winner (?) of that bid was Jan Terje Egeland (whose Entropia Universe alter-ego is "Modified Akoz Power"), who MindArk claims will be able to share revenue with the company from all activity on the moon.

This includes the activities of other players, as well as the ability to recruit new Entropia Universeplayers and earn a share of any revenue they generate from their activities anywhere in Entropia Universe.

"This is a great example of how MindArk includes players like myself to truly participate in, and shape the universe," said Jan Egeland in a press release announcing his purchase. "I hope for a long and fruitful partnership with MindArk."

The new moon, which has been named "Monria", will be under the control of Jan later this year. He'll officially be named its "operator." Once operational, the moon estate will include a Lunar Command Center, two Lunar Habitats, and eight subsurface caverns filled with unique creatures and rare resources, according to MindArk. The new moon is expected to be open for exploration in the second or third quarter of this year.

You can learn more about it at its new website, www.monria.com.
