Horizon: An Alternative Showcase of Games During E3

May 16, 2013 -

On Thursday June 13th (as part of this year’s E3 expo) video gaming site Venus Patrol will team up with MOCAtv (the video channel of Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art) to present an alternative press conference called HORIZON. Organizers say that this press event will show off a "lineup of beautiful games as an alternative to what we’ve come to expect from standard E3 fare."

Organizers of the event are not saying what games will be shown off but they do promise that games from studios of all sizes will be highlighted.

HORIZON is the love child of Cory Schmitz and Brandon Boyer, who decided after watching all of last year's E3 pressers that they needed to put together a press event they would want to watch. The event was organized with some help from developer Double Fine‘s Greg Rice, Mathew Kumar, MOCAtv and curator Sarah Brin (who also helped organize the Ahhhcade exhibition at SFMOMA during this year’s Game Developers Conference).

More details about the event are forthcoming. We'll let you know more as new information becomes available. In the meantime, you can check out horizon.venuspatrol.com for more information.

When I first saw this I thought Forza's Horizon music festival was becoming a real thing and got excited. :(
