Silicon Knights and Precursor Games' Denis Dyack Responds to Allegations

May 20, 2013 -

On Sunday a video was posted to YouTube featuring Silicon Knights and Precursor Games chief creative officer Denis Dyack addressing a Kotaku story from last year which he feels has hurt the funding drive for Shadow of the Eternals on Kickstarter and on the company's website. Shadow of the Eternals is a "sort-of" spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

In the video Dyack addresses a laundry list of complaints about his management of Silicon Knights and points made in the Kotaku articles and other reports that followed. We'll let the video speak for itself but the key take-away is that Dyack is no longer running the business side of game development at Precursor Games like he did at Silicon Knights; that they have an amicable relationship with both Activision and Nintendo; and that most of the reports about his company's troubles were based on anonymous sources.. The most important thing Dyack says is that he made a lot of mistakes. Even if he doesn't acknowledge all of them, this is a pretty hard thing to do for anyone in any business.

Check out the video to your left. NeoGAF offers a decent rundown of points on this whole ordeal here.

Re: Silicon Knights and Precursor Games' Denis Dyack ...

As would i. The video leaves more questions than answers and it appears Denis had to be persuaded to give his opinion on the matter.

I think this has less to do with setting the record straight and more with trying to save a faltering project.

Re: Silicon Knights and Precursor Games' Denis Dyack ...

Remember, Dyack used money that was paid to him by Activision to develop X-Men was used instead to make a demo for an Eternal Darkness sequel.

The guy is also a delusional narcissist who thinks he is some kind of big deal, and everything bad that happens to him is because "they" are out to get him.

Just wait to see what happens when this all goes to shit.  Dennis will blame some conspiracy against him.

Re: Silicon Knights and Precursor Games' Denis Dyack ...

Got any proof of that first claim?  It's almost as if that's what this entire post was about and you didn't read any of it.

Re: Silicon Knights and Precursor Games' Denis Dyack ...

If nothing else, I'd like to hear confirmation of this from someone who isn't Dyack or directly dependent on Dyack's good will to feed their family.
