On the same day that Trion Worlds, makers of the Defiance MMO, announced that Scott Hartsman was the new CEO, it shut down its San Diego office. The lion's share of the work being done at the San Diego office was related to Defiance. Trion Worlds confirmed the shutdown of the studio and that development on Defiance would be moved to its Redwood City office.
"We can confirm that the San Diego studio will be closing," the company said in a statement. "The day to day operations of Defiance will be moved to our Redwood City studio where it can be managed alongside Rift and our other in development titles including ArcheAge and End of Nations. As part of this transition, we are working hard to ensure that a number of great people will be making the move from San Diego to the Bay Area and continue their work at Trion."
In case you didn't know, Scott Hartsman previously served as chief creative officer on the MMO RIFT. He takes over for Lars Buttler, who remains on the Trion Worlds board of directors.
