Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

September 17, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

It looks like Mega Man series creator Keiji Inafune's spiritual successor to that popular franchise from Capcom will be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, and (wait for it) Wii U. The official Kickstarter recently hit a stretch goal of $2.2 million, which promised to bring the game to the aforementioned platforms if it was met. Another stretch goal - $3.3 million, will enable the developers to bring the game to Xbox One and PS4 if it is met.

Due for release sometime in or around April 2015, Mighty No. 9 is a sort-of spiritual sequel to the Mega Man series featuring a familiar protagonist that can fight and collect the power-ups of super powered robotic villains.

The game is also coming to Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems.

As of this writing, the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter has generated $2,236,506 from 38,976 backers with 14 more days to go. Other stretch goals include "Challenge Mode" at $2.4 Million, an extra end stage boss at $2.55 million, Beck and Call Online Coop Challenge mode at $2.75 million and two other stretch goals to be revealed at a later date.

Of course we all know the only stretch goal that matters was met $900k ago. Linux support. Anything else is just moot.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

Uhhh, what?  You think that a PC/Mac/Linux version of a game that's supposed to be on consoles is "the only one that matters?"

Did you eat paint chips as a kid?

The console version should have been the one at $900k, with Linux at $2.2 miillion.

Did you eat paint chips as a kid?

I am sure I ate a great many things I probably shouldn't have. So did you.

You think that a PC/Mac/Linux version of a game that's supposed to be on consoles is "the only one that matters?"

Yes I do. If the game is not coming out on a platform I don't own or play games on, then it is not a game for me. If it comes out on a platform that I game on, then it is a potential sale for me. So it doesn't matter what else they do to the game, if it doesn't come out on Linux, then I am not buying it. So it is the only one that matters.

The console version should have been the one at $900k, with Linux at $2.2 miillion.

Says the person not making the game.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

That may be your opinion, but some of us would like to see the game reach not just a maximized audience, but its full potential as well.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

What good is that full potential if it is not on a platform I use?

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

How selfish of you.

I was happy with it reaching the Mac version goal. But at least I will be able to get it on a console and play it on my TV. It will be like im a kid again, playing Mega Man 2. Only hopefully not as ball crushingly hard.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

It is selfish of me to want a great looking game on a platform I use? Is it selfish of those hundreds of thousands of people who signed the GTA 5 PC petition to want GTA 5 on the PC? What about Andrew? Is he selfish for wanting more games on the Wii U?

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

The "selfish" part is the bit where you're saying the only thing that matters is whether the game will be available on Linux, and that things like 8 stages instead of 6, New Game Plus mode, Turbo Mode, Boss Rush Mode, Challenge Mode, and an extra end stage, are completely unimportant (instead of saying they're simply something you personally care less about than being able to play the game on Linux). Last I checked, those GTA 5 people and Andrew weren't saying anything like that: their argument boils down to "we will buy your game if you just give us a chance to".

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

Wait...what? It is selfish for me to express an opinion now? An opinion that is no different than the opinions of people you say are not selfish? Ok. Thanks for your time.

Wait. Not done yet. Let me ask you a question. Let's say the game got all those extra level, bosses etc. Let's say that every content stretch goal was met. Now let's say that the game came out on every platform but the only one that you could play it on. How much does all that extra content mean to you now?

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

Passive-aggressiveness doesn't change the fact that what you're saying is very different from what those other people are saying. You wondered why people would consider what you were saying to be selfish, I explained it. There's no need to be so bitter about it.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

You didn't answer my question. What good would all that extra content do YOU if the game didn't come out on the only platform you game on?

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

Even if I wouldn't be able to play it, I would be able to take some comfort in knowing that a great series was able to reincarnate, rather than get a half-baked result.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U

So you would be content in knowing that there is a great game out there, even if you can't play it. I don't feel that way. Sorry. That is just how it is.
