Xbox Live Games with Gold Becomes a Permanent Program

October 21, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

It looks like Microsoft has decided that its free giveaway program for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Microsoft announced via its official Xbox blog that the Games with Gold program will continue on as a permanent fixture.

"Today, as part of the 'Week of Xbox Live,' we're excited to announce that we are making Games with Gold an ongoing benefit for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox 360," the team wrote in a blog post.

In case you don't already know, Games with Gold gives Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free Xbox 360 games each month on the 1st and 16th, available to download for only a limited time. This month's titles included Might & Magic Clash of Heroes (Oct. 1-15) and Halo 3, which is still available until Oct. 31. Both retail for $14.99 each.

Games with Gold launched earlier this year during the E3 Expo in June. At the time Microsoft said that the program would run until the end of this year - and that beyond that time period - it would have to evaluate if it would keep the program going or discontinue it. It looks like it decided to keep the program going, which is a good thing for gamers.
