Dayz Sell 400K Through Steam Early Access

January 2, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Developer Bohemia Interactive recently revealed that more than 400,000 people have put down their hard-earned money to buy DayZ during its first week on Steam Early Access. The game, which began its life as a mod for Arma 2, was released on December 16.

While some people who might not otherwise be interested in a game like DayZ are taking note because of its popularity, Bohemia Interactive is warning potential customers that the game they are thinking about buying early is not finished and still contains a lot of bugs.

"We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."

Despite the warning that may scare away some potential customers, a lot of fans have been itching to get their hands on the full blown version of this game for awhile and not even a dire warning will deter them from it. It also has to make Bohemia feel good that they decided to let the creator of the mod turn it into a stand-alone full blown product, given its early success...
