Bethesda Promises a Return of Fallout Classics 'As Soon As Possible'

January 3, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

While various classic Fallout games are no longer available on GOG.com, license holder Bethesda promises to make the classic games - Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics - available again as soon as possible. So where will customers find these games in the future? According to Bethesda's Twitter feed, they'll be on Valve's Steam at some point in the future:

"We're working to return classic Fallout games (1, 2, Tactics) to Steam and will provide an update when they're ready to go," said the publisher, which secured the rights to the IP from Interplay in 2012 as part of a settlement.

"Our priority right now is returning the games to Steam at the earliest date possible," it added in response to fan questions about the games being removed from GOG.com.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.

Steam? So it will have DRM, and no mac support since Bethseda dont give a crap about Macs. Hmp.

At least Interplay let GOG.com wrap the games in WINE (or DOSBOX, no idea what) so they run on Macs.

Don't forget aren't likely to work on the Win PC's either..

STEAM's selection of old games often have massive problems, most related to being tied into steam itself, and the steam overlay.

Those that do work.. usually end up being the GoG version just sold on steam..
