Star Citizen Hits $38 Million Funding Mark

February 6, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

A new "Letter from the Chairman" post on the Roberts Space Industries web site from company founder Chris Roberts reveals that Star Citizen has managed to surpass the $38 million crowd funding mark. By hitting this new milestone backers have helped unlock the fully aquatic planet, the Cano System. Roberts also noted that he is excited and impressed with the use of the recently launched Organizations feature:

"We’ve hit the incredible $38 million mark in our crowd funding campaign," Roberts wrote on the website. "It’s exciting seeing the Organizations feature flourish: backers are inviting more and more people into this world, and in the process they’re making even more possible for Star Citizen’s development. The $38 million unlock is the Cano System, home to a fully aquatic planet."

He goes on to tease what the next funding milestone will bring players:

"At $39 million, we’ll announce a new goal that will help chart the course for the future of Star Citizen in a different way… and it’s one I’m personally very excited about, so be sure to check back then and learn more!"

Re: Star Citizen Hits $38 Million Funding Mark

I backed Star Citizen...

...however I am having a hard time getting my friends to back it as they have real fears of Pay to Win for this game. Are their fears substantiated?
