Punk Band Fall Out Boy Releasing a 'Flappy Bird' Tribute Game of Sorts

February 12, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Maybe it's a cheeky joke that became reality or perhaps they are simply seizing the moment, but punk band Fall Out Boy has decided to get in on the Flappy Bird media frenzy by creating a parody game called "Fall Out Bird." It sounds like an April Fool's Day joke come early, but the game is a real thing, according to the BBC, and it will be released very soon.

"Rome wasn't built in a day, but this game was," Fall Out Boy wrote on the group's official site. "We bring you Fall Out Bird. Coming this week to Google Play and The App Store (as soon it's approved)."

"Shoutout to the OG Flappy Bird, RIP."

On a related note (as pointed out by Eurogamer), Super Hexagon developer Terry Cavanagh has also jumped on the Flappy Bird bandwagon with the release of his Flash-based game and Flappy Bird tribute, "Maverick Bird." You can find that game on Cavanagh's official website.
