Video Game Industry Teams Up With Operation Supply Drop for '8-Bit Salute' Fundraiser

March 10, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Military-focused gaming charity Operation Supply Drop has announced that its third annual fundraising event, the 8-Bit Salute, will take place May 17 - 18, 2014. Funds and donations raised by Operation Supply Drop during the 24-hour gaming marathon will be used to deliver video game to troops in Afghanistan as well as various recovery centers across the country.

Rooster Teeth (creators of the award-winning Red vs Blue series), Wargaming America (World of Tanks, World of Warplanes), developer Naughty Dog (creators of Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, and The Last of Us) and gaming-headset maker ASTRO Gaming have pledged significant support and will field fundraising teams via the newly-rebuilt Operation Supply Drop website at www.operationsupplydrop.org.

Fans can also get involved by logging into the new Operation Supply Drop website to either join one of these teams or create their own to raise funds for the troops, and get a chance to win a variety of prizes. More than a dozen additional video game developers and publishers will be fielding fund-raising teams, supplying donations and video games to ensure this year’s 8-Bit Salute is the most successful to date.
