Edward Snowden Calls Senator Feinstein Hypocritical for Complaining About CIA Spying

March 11, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

In a statement to NBC News former NSA contractor (currently in exile in Russia after leaking classified NSA documents about domestic and international spying programs) called Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA.) hypocritical for complaining about the CIA allegedly spying on the Senate while strongly supporting the NSA's spying programs and bills like CISPA.

"It's clear the CIA was trying to play 'keep away' with documents relevant to an investigation by their overseers in Congress, and that's a serious constitutional concern,” said Snowden in his statement.

“But it's equally if not more concerning that we're seeing another 'Merkel Effect,' where an elected official does not care at all that the rights of millions of ordinary citizens are violated by our spies, but suddenly it's a scandal when a politician finds out the same thing happens to them," Snowden continued.

Snowden was referring to German Chancellor Merkel, who was allegedly spied on by the NSA. While condemning the U.S. for spying on her and other government officials, Merkel said nothing about the agency and British intelligence agencies spying on German and other European citizens.

Politics and hypocrisy go hand in hand.  It should be no surprise that Feinstein is such a crass hypocrite that she doesn't seem to even recognize her own hypocrisy.
