inXile's John Alvarado shared the sad news that Ron Nakada, the Senior Software Engineer at Blizzard Entertainment who was battling through Stage IV colon cancer, passed away on April 2 at 2:48am. Alvarado shared details on Ron Nakada's final days, surrounded by family and feeling no pain:
"It is with deep sadness that I report that my dear friend Ron Nakada passed away yesterday at 2:48am," writes John Alvarado on the Help Ron Beat Cancer fundraising page. "He was surrounded by family during his final days and hours, with a great many friends coming to visit him at the hospital. Ron required no pain medication and remained lucid in his final days to appreciate all the love and support of the many friends who visited."
"Ron leaves behind a wife and four children that now have to cope with the great loss. The love and support of friends and family will help them endure the heartache while the long passage of time slowly heals."
Alvarado goes on to say that those who want to help the family pay for any outstanding medical bills can show their support by making a donation of any size through YouCaring.org. The gaming community helped the family successfully pay down a massive amount of debt related to medical expenses at the end of last year.
All of us at GamePolitics offer our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Ron Nakada. Rest in peace. You will be missed by those whose lives you touched.
