PAX South Planned for 'Early 2015'

April 14, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

The Penny Arcade Expo has found great success in the Eastern and Western parts of the United States and even in Australia, but organizers want to bring the fan-focused event to a region of the United States that is rich in development talent and underserved gaming fans: Texas. So Joining PAX East and PAX Prime in 2015 will be PAX South.

Organizers announced that PAX South will take place in San Antonio, Texas in early 2015. Specifics like dates and the venue were not disclosed as of this writing. According to the PAX organizers, PAX South will be similar to the other shows in other parts of the country, giving fans a "mix of the latest and greatest in video games, tabletop games, game inspired music, competitive gameplay, and insight from leaders in the world of gaming."

"We've been hearing for years that those in the south had a tough time making it to the northern corners of the country; PAX South has always been a matter of 'when' rather than 'if,'" Penny Arcade president Robert Khoo said in the announcement.

Honestly, PAX South makes sense given the proliferation of game development studios in Austin, Dallas and other regions in the country like Georgia and North Carolina. A big fan-focused event in the region will certainly encourage some big game development names in Texas to attend and provide fans first-hand looks at their latest wares.
