Minecraft on Xbox One Will Allow Save Transfers from Xbox 360 Version

April 25, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

According to a recent tweet from Microsoft's head of Xbox Phil Spencer, the new Xbox One version of Minecraft will allow you to do something that the Xbox One won't with Xbox 360 - have some measure of backwards compatibility. According to Spencer, Xbox 360 Minecraft owners will have the grand ability to transfer their save data over to the Xbox One version of the game.

"After months of teaming up with Mojang, we can confirm that Minecraft [Xbox 360] Edition will save transfer to Xbox One Edition," Spencer said on Twitter.

He also hinted that more news about this will be revealed "soon."

Mojang has similar plans to support transfer of Minecraft saves from the PlayStation 3 version to the PlayStation 4 version. Microsoft announced earlier in the month that the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft has sold more than 12 million copies to-date.
