According to Time's Techland, flight attendants are suing to reinstitute a ban on using electronics during flights. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, the largest union representing flight attendants in the United States, filed a lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday, saying that the federal agency should have upheld a ban on the use of smartphones and tablets during takeoff and landing. Netflix has released its Speed Index for September, showing that a paid prioritization deal with Verizon is finally paying off for customers. In September, Verizon FiOS topped all other major ISPs in Netflix performance with an average stream rate of 3.17Mbps. In August, Netflix streamed at an average of 2.41Mbps on Verizon FiOS;in July it was at 1.61Mbps; and in June, 1.58Mbps.
Netflix performance on Verizon DSL has improved slightly, hitting an average speed of 1.68Mbps in September.

Evolution Studios says that it has not ruled out offering compensation to DriveClub owners in order to make up for the game's less-than-stellar launch. According to a series of tweets from game director Paul Rustchynsky, the developer is considering a number of options.

At the end of last week, Tommy Refenes - one of the co-creators of the indie hit Super Meat Boy - held a three night fundraising event to raise money for his sick mother. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Refenes took to Twitch to play and stream Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto V in the hopes of helping his sister raise $15,000 to get their mother a diabetic alert dog. Target 12 News out of Providence, Rhode Island is reporting that the Rhode Island Secretary of State's office held its first hearing focusing on the alleged lobbying activities of former 38 Studios board member Thomas Zaccagnino on Thursday. After a lengthy wait, PS Vita owners will finally be able to play Mojang's popular world crafting game Minecraft next week. Sony announced via the PlayStation Blog that the PS Vita Edition of Minecraft will be coming to the Playstation store next week.
Minecraft PS Vita Edition will be available via the PlayStation Store on Oct. 14 for only $19.99, while the retail version will be released on Nov. 11.

Last night organizers of IndieCade 2014 handed out awards honoring such indie studios as Double Fine, Little Wins, and Down to the Wire. There were more than 1,000 submissions from developers, and over 30 nominations for the awards this year. IndieCade is an annual event held in Los Angeles that celebrates independent developers and the wonderful games that they make.
Hack 'n' Slash from Double Fine took the Grand Jury Award, while Loveshack's Framed won the Visual Design Award, and N++ from Metanet Software was given the Special Recognition Awards.

Lindsay Lohan's lawsuit against Rockstar/Take-Two Interactive for her alleged depiction in Grand Theft Auto V has shifted its focus to be compatible with New York State law (the jurisdiction where the lawsuit was filed) and the amended complaint filed by Lohan's lawyers has gone from 10 to 67 pages long, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
