'Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes' for PC Dated

No petition required for this game! Some good news for PC gamers wanting to play the latest Metal Gear Solid game from Konami: it's coming to Steam on December 18th. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will come to the PC with 4K support, and will feature an "increase in the number of simultaneous light sources, the number of models that can be displayed on-screen, and increased shadow resolution," according to Konami.

China's McDonald's Gets a 'World of Warcraft' Makeover

Some McDonald's restaurants in China have been redesigned with a World of Warcraft theme to promote Blizzard's popular MMO to gamers in the country. Kotaku has plenty of photos of McDonald's establishments in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou made over with paintings, character art, banners for the Hoarde and the Alliance, and gigantic statues from WoW.

Redbox Instant Shutting Down Oct. 7

Redbox Instant will be shutting down tomorrow, according to an announcement by Redbox. Verizon's attempt to compete against Netflix and to supplement Redbox's brisk kiosk-based movie and video game rental service with an online streaming component, is being closed after two-years in existence.

"Redbox Instant by Verizon... will be shut down on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time," customers were told in a notice on the service's website.

Gearbox Targeted By Fake Bomb Threat

On October 3rd Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford sent out a series of tweets - with photos - showing that someone called in a bomb threat to the company's headquarters in Dallas, Texas. While the call turned out to be a hoax, the Dallas police made sure that the areas was clear and safe before letting employees get back into the building or to their nearby vehicles.

The police department has not released details on where the call might have emanated from.

Disney Pulls 'Tiny Death Star' From Mobile Stores Without Warning Developer, Fans

Disney recently pulled a Star Wars- themed mobile game called Tiny Death Star from online app stores without warning players or its development team of the action in advance. A spin-off of Tiny Tower, Tiny Death Star is a business management game that pays homage to the Star Wars Death Star from the films. It was developed by NimbleBit for Disney.

The game, which is less than a year old, has now been pulled from the iTunes App Store and the Google Play store by Disney, which did not inform the game's developer NimbleBit that it was going to do so.

Report: Industry Privately Angry With Verizon Over Its Net Neutrality Win Against The FCC

While they won't say it publicly, broadband and mobile service providers are kind of ticked off with Verizon for suing the FCC in federal court and winning earlier this year. Sure, Verizon got a lot of the Open Internet Order invalidated, but the Federal court actually gave the FCC guidance it needed to move forward: reclassify broadband (and maybe even mobile) as "common carriers" like the telephone under Title II of the Telecommunications Act and get the legal authority they need to enforce the rules.

Japanese developer Westone Bit Entertainment is facing bankruptcy after nearly 30 years in business according to a report in Game Watch Impress (as translated by Sega Nerds).

Westone is best known for creating the 1986 8-bit hit Wonder Boy (released in America as Adventure Island) and the popular Monster World series released on the Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx-16.
