Former Capcom exec joins Six Foot

GamesIndustry.biz reports that former Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson has found a new home at Six Foot as chief operating officer and head of its games division in Houston, Texas. Svensson will also manage Grey Box, which worked with Petroglyph, Axis Animation, and Weta Workshop on the RTS title Grey Goo.

Capcom Europe appoints new CEO

Well that was short lived. According to GamesIndustry International, Capcom Europe has a new CEO. In December of last year the company announced the appointment of Hiroshi Tobisawa. A little over four months later and Capcom is replacing him for some unknown reason(s) with ten-year Capcom veteran Katsuhiko Ichii.

According to Capcom Europe, Tobisawa "leaves the European office to return back to Capcom Japan and pursue other business opportunities."

'Dead Rising 2' and 'Dead Rising 2: Off the Record' transitioning to Steamworks tomorrow

Capcom is finally ditching Games for Windows Live in favor of Steamworks for two Dead Rising games for PC. Tomorrow Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will finally feature full Steamworks support. This will enable owners of both games to simply log into Steam and get access to all of its functions include achievements, streaming, and more.

Report: 'RE: Revelations 2' Season Pass Buyers Having Trouble On PS4

Kotaku reports that an undetermined number of players are having trouble with the Season Pass for Resident Evil Revelations 2 on PlayStation 4. Some users are claiming that they cannot play the second episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 despite purchasing a Season Pass that entitles them to it and other episodes as they are released. The Season Pass costs $24.99, while individual episodes are $5.99 each.

Capcom Enables Local Coop Play in 'Resident Evil: Revelations 2'

After saying it left local cooperative play out of the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 due to stability issues, Capcom had decided to add it into the game this week. The company's change of heart was likely due to a mod released last week that enabled local co-op play (showing that it did not affect performance in any way). While that mod is still available for use, Capcom decided to release local co-op play alongside the Raid Mode introduced in a recently released patch.

Capcom Apologizes For Listing Local Co-op as Feature in PC Version of 'RE: Revelations 2'

Those who bought the PC version of Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Steam learned shortly after their purchase that the game does not contain local cooperative play, despite it being advertised as a feature on the game's Steam product page. Console owners of the game apparently do have the ability to play local co-op.

So why did Capcom remove this feature from the PC port of the game even as the product page on Steam STILL (as of this writing, at least) claims it supports it?

Capcom Removes GameCube From 'Resident Evil HD'

Capcom has released a remastered version of the 2002 GameCube Resident Evil remake, but one small change redacts a GameCube specific gag that some fans might notice.

Resident Evil HD offers the same core gameplay and story from the original 1996 PlayStation Resident Evil and the new features added into the GameCube version like new enemies. But one thing the game does not contain is a specific reference to the Nintendo platform.

No 'Monster Hunter 4' for Wii U, Says Capcom

Capcom Sues Koei Tecmo For Patent Infringement

Capcom is suing fellow Japanese developer and publisher Koei Tecmo for allegedly infringing on a number of its patents, according to a Sankei report translated by Siliconera. The patents relate to letting players in a new game import or unlock content from an older title and the use of a controller vibration to alert players of nearby enemies.

Street Fighter IV and series producer Yoshinori Ono announced today that he is resigning from his director position at Capcom Vancouver. Ono announced via Twitter that he was leaving his position and thanked the staff working on the Dead Rising series and Capcom Vancouver in general:

Capcom Spending $79 Million on New R&D Facilities

Capcom announced that it is building two new research and development facilities in Osaka, Japan. The cost of these new facilities is estimated at around eight billion yen, or $79 million. Construction of the first building (R&D Building S) began in May of 2013 and is expected to be completed by January 2015 at a cost of 2.5 billion yen, or $24.6 million. Construction on the second building (R&D Building N) began this month and is expected to be completed in February 2016 at a cost of 5.5 billion yen, or $54.1 million.

Capcom Addresses Lack of Gender Choices in 'Deep Down'

Capcom 'Shocked' About Onimusha Composer's Admissions

Capcom says that it was "surprised" to hear that Resident Evil: Director's Cut and Onimusha composer Mamoru Samuragochi hired someone else to compose his works and that he may not be deaf. But even as Capcom makes this statement insiders are telling one Japanese publication that it was common knowledge within the company that Mamoru Samuragochi could hear. The 50-year-old composer had claimed he lost all hearing in both ears at age 35.

Capcom Kills Ghost 'N Goblins Demon World Kickstarter Campaign

Capcom has put the brakes on a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign for an unlicensed Ghost 'N Goblins game. Phantasm Studios' campaign is now the subject of an intellectual property dispute initiated by Capcom, and has been shutdown. The Kickstarter page for the campaign now features a DMCA notice from Capcom.

Mega Man Board Game Kickstarter Launches, Gets Fully Funded

After only a day of being live, a Kickstarter campaign for a Mega Man Board game has managed to get fully funded. The board game, which secured an official license from Capcom, has raised $167,796 from 1,369 backers - well over its initial goal of $70,000. The campaign has 37 more days left, so expect a lot of stretch goals to be added.

Monster Hunter Series Hits 28 Million Units Sold Milestone

Capcom announced that the latest title in its Monster Hunter series has helped push the franchise to 28 million units sold to date. In October, Capcom said that the franchise had sold 26 million units total. It also revealed that the latest game in the series - Monster Hunter 4 - had sold four million copies since its release in September. The 3DS game has only been released in Japan. That four million figure included sales of the downloadable version and is up from the three million figure announced in October.

Capcom: Dead Rising 3 Will Sell over 1.2 Million Copies

Capcom predicts that its next game in its third-person zombie apocalypse series, Dead Rising 3, will sell over 1.2 million copies on Xbox One. This prediction on sales of the Xbox One exclusive was part of a financial document for the first half of the financial year ending March 31, 2014. While Capcom might be excited about that number, it's a lot lower than the original game for Xbox 360, which sold 1.8 million copies. The multi-platform sequel did much better with 2.8 million units sold.

Last month, developer Comcept launched a Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9, a new video game that is counting on your love of Mega Man for its success.

Seriously, almost every sentence of the project's pitch name drops the Blue Bomber.

"Classic Japanese side-scrolling action, evolved and transformed by Keiji Inafune, an all-star team of veteran Mega Man devs..." (Note: Inafune is the character designer/producer behind most of the Mega Man games.  He left Capcom in 2010)
