Launched last week, Operation Ninja S.T.A.R. seeks to raise funds to closely examine a patent owned by Treehouse Avatar Technologies to see if there is any evidence that the invention existed prior to the patent application. Their ultimate goal is to render the patent invalid.

Mega Man Board Game Kickstarter Launches, Gets Fully Funded

After only a day of being live, a Kickstarter campaign for a Mega Man Board game has managed to get fully funded. The board game, which secured an official license from Capcom, has raised $167,796 from 1,369 backers - well over its initial goal of $70,000. The campaign has 37 more days left, so expect a lot of stretch goals to be added.

Read Only Memories Gets Fully Funded

The crowdfunding campaign ended yesterday, raising $64,378 from 1,790 by the time it closed. The developers were originally seeking $62,064. Portalarium Announces Release 1 of Shroud of the Avatar

Backers of Richard Garriott's and Portalarium's online-focused RPG Shroud of the Avatar, will get a taste of the game beginning today with the launch of Shroud of the Avatar Release 1. The early version of the game's client will allow players to log in to their accounts, download the client, create a character and begin to explore the streets of Owl's Head, the game's first town open for business. The release comes nine months after the project was announced by Portalarium in early March.

PSA: Wasteland 2 Beta Available for Backers

Star Citizen Raises $33 Million in Crowd-Funding

Cloud Imperium's space combat and exploration simulation game continues to rake in an almost obscene amount of cash. Star Citizen is being spearheaded by Chris Roberts, the man behind the hit space game Wing Commander and Privateer.

It is because of his involvement with those beloved classics that this game has been able to surpass $33 million in funding. In turn this new funding milestone has unlocked the Anvil Carrack and the Drake Herald ships for backers, according to an announcement by developer Chris Roberts made in an official blog post.

Mutant Football League Crowd-Funding Campaign Ends Unsuccessfully

A Kickstarter campaign to create a sequel to the popular Sega Genesis football game Mutant Football League has ended on an unsuccessful note. The crowd-funding campaign launched by the franchise's original creator Michael Mendheim ended yesterday, raising only $141,821 of the $750,000 goal. Had the game been funded, it would have launched in the summer of 2015 for PC, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, iOS, and Android.

James Pond Kickstarter Canceled

A crowdfunding campaign for a sequel to the classic console game James Pond has been canceled by Chris Sorrell, one of the game's original designers. The Kickstarter was launched last month by rights holder Gameware Europe, but with 11 days to go in the campaign it became clear that the crowd-funding campaign might not meet its goal - raising just £16,000 of its £100,000 target. The low figure was enough for Sorrell to give up on the Kickstarter campaign.

River City Ransom: Underground Meets Funding Goal

River City Ransom: Underground reached its initial $180,000 funding goal on Kickstarter. The game still has a few stretch goals, but not too much time left to meet them. If the stretch goal of $280,000 is met, the developers will port the game to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. If they can hit the $320,000 mark, they promise to bring it to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and if they manage to get to $360,000 they'll port it to Xbox One.

Precursor Games Shelves Shadow of the Eternals

Precursor Games has put Shadow of the Eternals on hold indefinitely. In a post on the Precursor Games forums, Dennis Dyack, who helped co-found the studio with former colleagues from Silicon Knights, explained that both the game and the team will be taking a bit of a break.

"For those who are not aware, we all worked on this project as a labor of love and self financed 100 per cent of everything for a over a year to try to make Shadow of the Eternals a reality," he said.
