As Blizzard prepares for the November launch of its fifth World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor, it has decided to give active players and those who reactivate their accounts for the expansion Mists of Pandaria for free. Blizzard is also offering a deal where you can buy all the rest of the expansions - the Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and  Mists of Pandaria for $19.99 at the Battle.net Store.

This weekend those who do not subscribe to Xbox Live Gold can get access it for free. Beginning today and ending on Oct. 12, Xbox Live Gold will be free for everyone, allowing players access to all of the services features.

Besides allowing you to play the multiplayer portion of all those Xbox 360 games you own, you can also download and play a variety of free-to-play games including World of Tanks, AirMech Arena, Happy Wars, and Warface.

After a lengthy wait, PS Vita owners will finally be able to play Mojang's popular world crafting game Minecraft next week. Sony announced via the PlayStation Blog that the PS Vita Edition of Minecraft will be coming to the Playstation store next week.

Minecraft PS Vita Edition will be available via the PlayStation Store on Oct. 14 for only $19.99, while the retail version will be released on Nov. 11.

Electronic Arts announced this morning that its "On The House" program will feature BioWare's popular role-playing game Dragon Age: Origins for the month of October. To get the game for free, all you need to do is have an Origin account and the Origin client installed. If you have those things already, you can download the game for free from this link.

Microsoft announced the free game giveaways for the month of October as part of its ongoing "Games With Gold" promotion for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Available to anyone who has an Xbox Live Gold account on Xbox 360 or Xbox One, Games With Gold gives away free games on a monthly basis just for being a subscriber.

The free Xbox One game for the month of October is Chariot, an ID@Xbox game from Canadian developers Frima. The game is described as a "couch co-op platformer that can be played alone or with a friend."

Valve has launched Steam Music Player, which lets users listen to MP3s while playing games in Steam. The Music Player allows users to create their own playlists, queue up mixes, listen to albums, and MP3s on your computer.

To go along with today's launch, Valve has some of the Half-Life and Portal soundtracks DLC available for free to those who own the related games and the documentary.

Nintendo today announced a free game giveaway for consumers who buy a 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS and either Super Smash Bros or Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire between now and January 12th 2015. The bad news is that this offer is only available in the UK and other PAL territories (Europe).

Those who meet the aforementioned requirements must also register their new system and the game they bought through Club Nintendo before January 12, 2015.

Microsoft has revamped its Xbox Live Rewards program, adding some new ways for players to earn credits for things they likely already do on Xbox One and Xbox 360. One of the changes is a new star system, which gives players higher rebate rates on purchases. You'll have to spend a fair amount of money buying things to earn stars, though - for example, members who spend $150 annually will earn one star. The star offers a one percent rebate. You can get up to five percent by earning stars, though Xbox Live Gold members will see that percentage amount doubled.

Microsoft has announced a promotion today that will give anyone who buys an Xbox One a free copy of one retail game. The promotional deal will run next week - from Sept. 7 – 13 - and applies to all Xbox One SKUs including the Xbox One with Kinect, Xbox One without Kinect, the Destiny Xbox One bundle, and other bundles currently available at retail.

The free Xbox One game can be any Xbox One retail game in stores including - but not limited to - Destiny, Titanfall, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, Watch Dogs, Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, etc.

Digital Extremes has launched Warframe on the Xbox One console worldwide today. Warframe is the first free-to-play game to be released through the ID@Xbox indie game development program. Digital Extremes' game is a third-person action game set in an evolving multiplayer sci-fi world.

Microsoft has revealed September's Games With Gold freebies for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Beginning Sept. 1, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can score Super Time Force on Xbox One and Monaco: What's Yours is Mine for their Xbox 360. Crimson Dragon, which is currently free on Xbox One, will remain available in Sept. as well. Starting September 16, Halo: Reach for Xbox 360 will be downloadable at no cost until the end of the month.

Wii U owners can download Disney Infinity for free via the Nintendo eShop. Of course you'll still have to buy at least one Infinity figure and the game base that reads those figures into the game, at retail. The downloadable version of Disney Infinity for Wii U on the Nintendo eShop features the full game, multiplayer support, and Toy Box level design tools that work with the Wii U GamePad.

Titanfall is available for free for a limited time on PC as part of EA's Origin Game Time promotion. Obviously you'll need to be an Origin member and have the client installed in order to play it. Those interested in playing Titanfall simply have to add the game to their Origin game library and download it.

The free play event for Respawn's online-focused, future-leaning first-person shooter will only last for 48 hours.

Those interested in purchasing the game after the free trial period ends can do so and continue their progress from the trial.

In addition to Arkane Studios' hit game Dishonored being available for free on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 until the end of the month, it is also available for free play on Steam all weekend. Borderlands 2 is also available during the weekend as a free play game.

The first-person stealth action game is playable for free until Sunday at 1pm Pacific Time (4pm Eastern Time). During that same period, you can buy the game for 75 percent off its regular price. The regular version will cost you $5, while the Game of the Year version is $10.19.

Zabuza Labs has launched "Save Trees - A Game for Social Cause" for Android-based devices, a simple game that offers a message about conservation and protecting the environment. The game promises to entertain with simple gameplay mechanics while delivering a "social message" and educational information on trees.

EA announced that it is letting those who have an Origin account play Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare for free for a limited time. For 72 hours you can play EA's and PopCap's' team-based Plants vs. Zombies-themed online shooter via the Origin Game Time program.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare pits a team of plants against squads of zombies in 24-player suburban multiplayer arenas. As you progress through the game and gain victories you unlock all kinds of game elements and characters.

The United States Census Bureau has released a new mobile app for iOS and Android devices that tests users' knowledge of various demographic facts for the states and D.C. The app is called Census PoP Quiz, and it is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Depression Quest, an interactive fiction game about dealing with the peaks and valleys of depression, has finally made its way to Steam this week. Available for free, Depression Quest is the creation of Zoe Quinn. The game was originally released on February 14 of last year, but had to wait until January of this year to get the "greenlight" from Steam.

EA's "On The House" free PC game giveaway for the month of August is the classic space action game Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger. As always you'll have to have an Origin account and the client installed to play the game. To get it you'll need to login to Origin and find it in the "On The House" promotional section (here).

New month, new games for you to download for free (well, if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription or an Xbox Live Gold account). Beginning today Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download three of the four games that are part of Microsoft's Games With Gold free-game-giveaway program. From now until August 15 you can grab Motorcross Madness for Xbox 360 for free. You can also get some cool Xbox Avatar off-road gear from the game. Xbox One owners can grab either Crimson Dragon or Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut. On August 16 Xbox 360 owners can score Dishonored.

Microsoft has revealed the Xbox One and Xbox 360 'Games With Gold' titles that will be free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in July. Starting Tuesday, July 1, Xbox One players will be able to download Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, replacing June's Halo: Spartan Assault. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood will remain free for another month for Xbox One users.

Xbox 360 owners will get Gotham City Imposters will be available from July 1 until July 15. On July 16 it will be replaced with BattleBlock Theater, which will be free until July 31.

EA today announced a new Origin program that gives players limited time with a full game called "Game Time." The promotion gives gamers early access to games for a limited amount of time to play as much of a full game in the promotion as they want. The new program will launch with a free weekend for Titanfall on PC.

Nintendo has made four student games available for free on Wii U eShop in Japan. All of the games were built by teams of students in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.

The Xbox 360 version of Dark Souls is now free to download for Xbox Live Gold subscribers as part of Microsoft's Games with Gold monthly deal. Weighing in at around 3.81 GB, the game normally sells for $19.99 on Microsoft's digital marketplace, Games on Demand. Dark Souls is a hardcore, unforgiving action RPG, and the successor to the popular sequel Dark Souls II.

Other Xbox 360 free to download this month as part of Games with Gold will also include free Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter IV downloads starting on June 16.

Two free games a month from Xbox Live? Sony is upping the ante by announcing that, starting in July, PS Plus subscribers (divided up amongst PS3, PS4, and PS Vita) will get two titles per platform on the first Tuesday of each month in North America and the first Wednesday every month in Europe. The previous month's titles will expire on that same day, Sony announced Thursday.

Wizards of the Coast announced that it is giving away a free Dungeons & Dragons basic rulebook, downloadable via its official website. While the basic Dungeons & Dragons PDF won't go into any great detail on any game setting, it is equivalent to the old Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia.

The Xbox 360 version of Saints Row: The Third is now available for free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers until the end of May. Weighing in at 6.86 GB, the title is normally sells for right around $20 on Microsoft's digital marketplace, but you can get it for nothing if you are an Xbox Live Gold subscriber. Earlier this month the action RPG Dust was available for free.
