Grand Theft Auto Online players antsy to get their in-game stimulus cash will have to wait a little bit longer. Rockstar said it would not release any of the free money until it had fixed a majority of the bugs still plaguing the game. The company said this in response to questions about the delay of the first $250,000 stimulus give out which was supposed to occur sometime this week.

GTA V released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 last month to rave reviews and record-breaking sales.  And yet, some gamers are still not happy.

No, not Nintendo fanboys.  We're never happy.

MCV points out a pretty astonishing story that recently appeared in the UK newspaper the Daily Mail.

The Change.org petition to bring Grand Theft Auto V to the PC continues to garner a respectable amount of support. As of this writing the petition has over 600,000 supporters, up from 500,000 a month ago. GTA V was released a month ago on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, generating $800 million in 24 hours and more than $1 billion in three days. PC gamers want in on that action, but Rockstar continues to be quiet on the subject.

Prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto V in September, Activision held the title of biggest video game launch in history with Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Activision UK senior brand manager Kevin Flynn recently told MCV that congratulations were in order for the folks at Rockstar, but that they shouldn't get too comfortable with the title they recently earned:

If you have lost characters in Grand Theft Auto Online and were hoping for some magic bullet to fix the problem, then you are out of luck, according to Rockstar Games. The company has confirmed, much to the chagrin of those affected by the glitch that made characters and online rankings disappear last week, that there's no fix for it. Instead they hope that the $500,000 in-game credit stimulus will be enough to satisfy players who have had trouble with the game since it launched on October 1.

Lawyers for rap artist Daz Dillinger, also known as "Dat Nigga Daz" and "Delmar Drew Arnaud," sent a cease and desist letter to Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar Games to block the use of his songs in Grand Theft Auto V. Speaking to TMZ, Dillinger said that he took action because it is all about "respecting an artist's work" and added that "Rockstar didn't do that here and I can't let them get away with it."

Rockstar Games will give away in-game currency to those affected by technical difficulties in Grand Theft Auto Online, the online multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V. The company said this morning that anyone who played the game when it first launched (a period they define as the entire month of October) will receive $500,000, deposited in their in-game bank accounts. Rockstar is calling the funds "stimulus money." How very political of them. The money will be doled out to players' bank accounts in two deposits.

Citing multiple sources "close to the situation," Eurogamer is claiming that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V will be released in the first quarter of 2014 (January to March). There's been a lot of speculation about a PC version of the game being released, but Rockstar has been pretty quiet about it so far.

Intel strongly believes that Grand Theft Auto V will eventually make its way to the PC, and not because of the petition on Change.org... Speaking to PC Gamer, Intel's Director of marketing for its Premium Notebooks Chris R. Silva said that the record-setting PS3 and Xbox 360 game won't remain a console-exclusive for much longer.

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V has managed to get itself into the official record books seven times.

According to posts on the European and North American PlayStation blogs, Grand Theft Auto is dominating sales on the PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Store. While exact sales figures were not disclosed, both blogs show Grand Theft Auto ruling the roost in the Top Ten European North American digital download purchase lists.

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V has become the 12th best-selling game of all time in the UK, overtaking its predecessor's lifetime sales - and only after three weeks at retail - according to UK retail sales tracking firm Chart-Track. The firm reports that GTA V sold 1.57 million units in the UK on day one of release, beating out previous record holder Call of Duty: Black Ops' 1.41 million in sales to become the fastest-selling game in UK history.

The voice actors behind the main protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V (Michael, Trevor, and Franklin) are speaking out about the role of violence in the game in a new interview with PCAdvisor.

Ned Luke, who plays Michael de Santa in the game says anyone who has an opinion on GTA V and hasn't actually played it should probably be quiet:

Rockstar Games has released an update to Grand Theft Auto Online on the PS3, with plans to release the update for Xbox 360 "as soon as possible." The online companion service to Grand Theft Auto V has had a rough start since it launched on Oct. 1, with many fans having trouble logging in and staying connected to the service - amongst a host of other technical issues. Some players claim that they have been unable to play GTAO at all.

Sales of boxed games have climbed for the first time in the UK since December 2008, thanks to Grand Theft Auto V. According to CVG - citing data from MCV - Rockstar's latest game has sold more than 2.6 million units in the UK in two weeks, accounting for half of all boxed games sold in September.

The Change.org petition urging Rockstar Games to port Grand Theft Auto V to the PC has around 72,000 more supporters than it had the last time we checked. As of this writing, the petition has 572,777 supporters - up from the 500,000 it had on Sept. 26.

Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer companion to Grand Theft Auto V, launched today and Rockstar is already apologizing for early technical issues. Of course, Rockstar warned on Monday that it expected a few hiccups here and there as hundreds of thousands or even millions of players converged on the service.

The petition on Change.org urging Rockstar Games to port Grand Theft Auto V to the PC has seen another major surge this week, jumping from over 450,000 signatures to over 500,000. The petition had a little over 450,000 signatures a few days, ago - up from just over 365,000 signatures a little after the game's retail release. It had 200,000 signatures in July and has seen its support balloon since the release of the game last week.

No doubt the Daily Mail (who loves publishing stories about the "evil influence" of video games on the UK's youth) is happy to report on what a judge had to say about a 15-year-old boy's bank raid at a Barclays bank in Liverpool, on Friday.

Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz writes in a research note to investors today that Grand Theft Auto V sales have likely surpassed 15 million units worldwide already. He also thinks that the game will sell 25 million units in its first year of release.

"Based on the $1B three-day figure Take-Two disclosed, we believe the game has already sold through at least 15MM units," said Creutz in his research note.

Despite the national media's fascination with the Washington Navy Yard shooter's violent video gaming habits, lawmakers on Capitol Hill focused on the need to shore up rules on guns in the United States. Democratic lawmakers and anti-gun groups focused their efforts on the push for a vote on background checks legislation, according to Polticio. During that debate there's was very little talk about violent video games.

Conservative college group Campus Reform's Caleb Bonham asks college students about the "virtual morality" (or lack thereof, from his perspective) in Grand Theft Auto V. In his video he interviews college students about whether it is acceptable to run over a prostitute and get your money back or kill policemen in the game. Most say that these are perfectly acceptable activities because the world is not real. Bonham does manage to stump a few people when he asks if allowing a player to rape someone is acceptable, just like the other things players can do in the game.

Deputy United Kingdom prime minister Nick Clegg apparently believes that games like Grand Theft Auto V can have a "corrosive effect" on player behavior. Speaking on his LBC Radio show today he cited unknown research to malign video games and the people that play them.

On launch day Grand Theft Auto V generated $800 million in sales, which is pretty impressive, but today we learn that its three-day sales total is even better news for Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar Games.

Tulsa, Oklahoma Talk Radio Station KFAQ AM 1170 gives former Florida Attorney and familiar anti-game crusader Jack Thompson a chance to talk about his favorite subject: Grand Theft Auto.

On Pat Campbell's podcast, Thompson discusses at length the effects of the Grand Theft Auto series, the Washington Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis' obsessive gaming habits, and the possible culpability of corporations that make violent video games.

EB Games Australia has apologized publicly for a Grand Theft Auto V publicity stunt at one of its stores. Apparently a Grand Theft Auto V display in one of its Queensland stores used sherbert as fake cocaine.

"Regrettably, one of our EB Games store locations in Queensland set-up an unauthorised display within the store in support of the launch of the Grand Theft Auto V video game," Debra McGrath, EB's national brand, events and marketing manager said.
