Football Manager 2013 Downloaded Illegally 10.1 Million Times This Year

Football Manager GM Miles Jacobson said recently (as reported by MCV) at the London Games Conference 2013 event that 10.1 million copies of the PC version of Football Manager 2013 have been illegally downloaded. The game was cracked on May 12, but the crack featured a strange flaw called Home that allowed Jacobson and his company to track the IP addresses of everyone who downloaded the game illegally and played it.

CD Projekt Red: Publishers Use DRM to 'Cover Their Own Asses'

For some reason The Witcher series developers decided that it was necessary to confirm that the next title in the series on the PC would have no digital rights management software in it. In an open letter to the community, CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski addressed apparent concerns within the community that the PC version of its upcoming action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would contain some form of DRM.

Last week in our poll we asked readers "Will There Ever Be a PC Release of Grand Theft Auto 5?" A majority of the 443 votes cast indicated that a PC release of the game is definitely happening. Around 68 percent of voters (285 votes) said that a port to PC is going to happen and that people should just exercise some patience. Given that GTA IV came to the PC a long time after it was released on consoles, this makes sense to most people.

John Carmack Expresses Doubts About Valve's SteamOS, Steam Machines

Id Software co-founder and Oculus Rift guy John Carmack says that he is not convinced that Valve Software can pull off the lofty goals of SteamOS and Steam Machines - while at the same time admitting that he has been very wrong in the past about what Valve is capable of.

"There's an interesting kind of retrospective on it," Carmack said during Nvidia’s Montreal conference.

As of this writing the petition has over 600,000 supporters, up from 500,000 a month ago. GTA V was released a month ago on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, generating $800 million in 24 hours and more than $1 billion in three days. PC gamers want in on that action, but Rockstar continues to be quiet on the subject.

A petition on Change.org urging Rockstar Games to port Grand Theft Auto V to the PC has hit a major milestone recently; it now has over 365,000 signatures. The petition was created to urge Rockstar Games to bring the game to the PC platform as soon as possible after the game released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game hits both those platforms officially tomorrow in the United States.

As of this writing, the petition has 365,006 supporters - up from the 200,000 signatures it managed to collect in July of this year.
