David Petraeus, who resigned recently from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) due to a scandal related to an extra-marital affair (which continues to play out in the news this week) has apparently received a promotion in the latest chapter of the Call of Duty series. In the latest game - released this week - Black Ops II - Petraeus is the Secretary of Defense in the year 2025. He appears in part of the story, riding aboard the U.S.S. Barack Obama.

A new game for Android devices called Whack a Candidate: Election' 12 charges you with suppressing the vote of the political party you don't like by whacking them in the face with the "Hammer of Justice." The game is much like whack-a-mole but the field is a map of the United States. When a candidate or their vice-presidential running mate pops up on the map you whack them with a hammer to stop them from scoring votes in a given state.

MTV Launches Fantasy Election '12 Social Game

MTV has revamped and fine-tuned its "get out the vote" campaign (Rock The Vote) with a gamification scheme that will feature several parts including a viral online campaign and a game that mixes fantasy football gameplay with 2012 election year politics. The gaming part of the equation is called Fantasy Election '12, and will give those who sign up to it "points" for registering to vote, watching debates, and publicly supporting candidates who do not engage in shady campaign financing or mudslinging.

French Presidential Candidate Powers Up With Konami Code

We like when politicians get cute and use video games to promote themselves, so it's a requirement that we write about French presidential candidate François Bayrou using the "Konami code" on his website. If you visit the site at bayrou.fr and enter the familiar cheat code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A), the site will greet you with 8-bit visuals of the candidate, some retro game-like music, and some French text about something. Players will have to fight a Gatling-gun wielding robotic George Washington, dubbed a "heavy hitter" by Levine. The Washington automaton is the creation of Columbia's ruling faction, the Founders, and was originally designed as a tour guide to show the highlights and greatness of the floating city.
