You've seen the movies, read the books, and now you can play the video game based on "Watergate," the scandal named after a prominent Washington D.C. office complex where operatives of former President Richard Nixon broke into the Democratic National Committee offices. The scandal eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974, who failed to cover up his involvement in the entire mess.

A FoxNews.com report points out the release of the Assassin's Creed III DLC, The Tyranny of King Washington, a day after President's Day by a "French company" (thanks jccalhoun). The DLC released on Tuesday is an alternate storyline where General George Washington accepts the post of "King" and ultimately becomes a tyrant.

Gen. David Petraeus, who resigned recently from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) due to a scandal related to an extra-marital affair (which continues to play out in the news this week) has apparently received a promotion in the latest chapter of the Call of Duty series. In the latest game - released this week - Black Ops II - Petraeus is the Secretary of Defense in the year 2025. He appears in part of the story, riding aboard the U.S.S. Barack Obama.

The final battle in Slate's Political Kombat ’12 is about to go down, but this time the community gets to decide who goes on the be the president of the arena and who gets dragged off to the local mortuary. Previous battles in Slate's video series inspired by the gory combat of the Mortal Kombat series included Mitt Romney versus Rick Santorum and Herman Cain, Romney versus Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, President Obama versus Donald Trump, and Paul Ryan versus Joe Biden.

A new game for Android devices called Whack a Candidate: Election' 12 charges you with suppressing the vote of the political party you don't like by whacking them in the face with the "Hammer of Justice." The game is much like whack-a-mole but the field is a map of the United States. When a candidate or their vice-presidential running mate pops up on the map you whack them with a hammer to stop them from scoring votes in a given state.

While we often point out the failures of crowd-funded games like Haunts: The Manse Macabre, it's always good to bring you a story where a game has been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign and ends up being available for purchase.

Slate has released the fourth episode of its Political Kombat ’12 video series, which retells the story of the 2012 presidential race in a succession of animated video game fights modeled after Mortal Kombat. In the latest episode, Vice President Joe Biden goes toe-to-toe against his Republican challenger Congressman Paul Ryan.

A new game infuses the concept of the popular Game Boy Advance game Advance Wars, with the antics of the 2012 presidential elections in what developer Silverware Games calls "Strategery 2012." Strategery 2012 is a web-based game offering Advance Wars mechanics that feature the top two factions in politics today: those of President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

A new poltically themed game from developer Mayonaise Games lets you cast your vote for the U.S. president in a whole new way. The Android game is called Face Chop: Decision 2012, and it lets players "chop" the faces of candidates to earn points and "win the election."

IGN points out that Ubisoft's upcoming DLC for Assassin’s Creed III will have a very unique villain: George Washington. The founding father of our country and the first U.S. president was basically offered a position similar to "king' or "emperor" of America. Washington declined that offer and instead became the first president of the country, according to every history book I have ever read.

Eurogamer points to an interview earlier in the week with Valve's Chet Faliszek, who mentions in passing a Street Fighter-style fighting game that appeared on Steam Greenlight that lets you play as our current presidential candidates and past presidents like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Social game developer Rocket Surgeon has opened the beta of its Facebook game, For The People: Fantasy Politics to the public today. The 3D Facebook game lets players become the fictional 436th member of the House of Representatives, and play a key role in shaping the laws and policies of a fantasy democracy. Beginning today and running until the new Congress is seated in January, players can test their skills as a U.S.

Slate has put together a series of videos that show the past and upcoming presidential political debates as a series of fights similar to Mortal Kombat called "Political Kombat '12."

Digital Entertainment Ventures invites you to "vote with vegetables" in their new iOS and Android game, Mad Humans: Election 2012. In this 3D game you toss vegetables and other objects at world leaders, political mouthpieces and presidential and vice-presidential candidates including Sarah Palin, President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, Mitt Romney, and even Donald Trump. More characters will be added "soon." The game was developed by Sideline Amusements for both platforms.

We missed Party Politics when it launched earlier this month on both Facebook (September 6) and Kongregate (September 13), but it's worth mentioning now. Developed by Checkpoint Studios, Party Politics is a politically-themed match-3 puzzle game that is free-to-play. The game uses a Bejeweled style of gameplay combined with political themes in a quest to earn support and win the 2012 election.

Exis Interactive announced the release of its 3D presidential campaign fundraising game Execuforce for the PC. The game makers describe Execuforce in the following way:

FiveOneNine Games has launched Campaign Story, "the first political Facebook game." Campaign Story lets players run a political campaign as they see fit while trying to gain popularity, get votes and win the election. You can pick a campaign slogan, hire canvassers, hold fund raisers, hire campaign staff, and engage in dirty tricks or fight for the White House with some integrity if that's your thing.

Epic Games' Chair Entertainment has turned the 2012 election into a literal fight with its new iOS game that lets you play as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney or President Barack Obama and punch and kick your way into the White House.

While Political Machine 2012 is probably the de facto election year strategy game of choice for PC and Mac players right now, those looking to run a campaign on iOS and Android devices can always check out Election Game 2012: Race for the White House. While we can't attest to the quality of this game (we haven't played it personally) developer Lunagames promises a down and dirty political campaign to win the highest office in the land: the presidency.

Political Machine 2012 is a strategy games that lets players choose their favorite past and present political candidates in a bid to win the most prized position in U.S. politics: the presidency of the United States. Players can choose to play as President Barack Obama, Republican presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, or former Republican primary candidates Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich. If you think all those choices are horrible you can create your own candidate from scratch.

A Kickstarter campaign for Election War Room has been launched, with the hopes of securing enough funding from the crowd to finish the development of this election-year strategy board game for iOS-based devices.

It isn't particularly sophisticated, but klutzGames' Windows Phone 7 release of LeaderFlip does let players (particularly those in Germany) have a bit of fun with Chancellor of Germany and Chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union Angela Merkel -- I mean Angie Makel. The game lets you play as a caricature of the German Chancellor who you must send to the moon by flipping her upwards on platforms using a simple game mechanic and a variety of power-ups that include beer, sausage, and beans.

FiveOneNine Games has released its first iOS game today called Political Rampage. The game gives players control of "outrageous caricatures" of famous American politicians who battle in quick match-three battles to win debates on the campaign trail. The items you will be matching in the game are issues important to the voting public.

When you think of news sources, Something Awful probably doesn't come to mind, but one of its writers took some time away from writing jokes to point out a few odd things with the Ron Paul: Road to REVOLution game that has managed to rake in over $10,000 from a highly publicized Kickstarter campaign. SA obtained access to the developer's server and found that his game uses assets borrowed from other games.

MTV has revamped and fine-tuned its "get out the vote" campaign (Rock The Vote) with a gamification scheme that will feature several parts including a viral online campaign and a game that mixes fantasy football gameplay with 2012 election year politics. The gaming part of the equation is called Fantasy Election '12, and will give those who sign up to it "points" for registering to vote, watching debates, and publicly supporting candidates who do not engage in shady campaign financing or mudslinging. 

We like when politicians get cute and use video games to promote themselves, so it's a requirement that we write about French presidential candidate François Bayrou using the "Konami code" on his website. If you visit the site at bayrou.fr and enter the familiar cheat code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A), the site will greet you with 8-bit visuals of the candidate, some retro game-like music, and some French text about something. Since I don't know any French we'll leave it to our readers to figure it out.

Presidential candidate Ron Paul probably won't get the Republican party nomination, but he will appear in at least two video games. I guess that's something... The two video games are Stardock's Political Machine 2012 and an odd platformer called Ron Paul: Road to Revolution.

The game will let you pick from various candidates including President Barack Obama, Republican candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich, or a politician that you create from scratch. The game can be played in a one-on-one election year match up against the game's AI or against a human opponent via the Internet.

In a new video featuring Irrational's Ken Levine the company reveals one of the bosses that players will face off against in BioShock Infinite: America’s first president. Players will have to fight a Gatling-gun wielding robotic George Washington, dubbed a "heavy hitter" by Levine. The Washington automaton is the creation of Columbia's ruling faction, the Founders, and was originally designed as a tour guide to show the highlights and greatness of the floating city.
