Game development team and My Little Pony fans Mane6 were working on a pretty cool looking fighting game based on Hasbro's license.  The only problem?  It's Hasbro's license and Hasbro said "no."

Same thing happened last December to an unauthorized My Little Pony MMO.

In last week's poll we asked you "How important is backwards compatibility to you?" It turns out that it is not an important factor to a majority of our readers - or at least it's not a "deal breaker." 620 people voted in last week's poll and of those 620 votes, only 32 percent (or 196 votes) said that they would not buy a new console if it didn't offer backwards compatibility.

The PlayStation 4 will not be backwards compatible.

Got a bunch of PS3, PS2, or PS1 games?  Too bad, bucko!  You won't be able to play them on the PS4 when it launches this fall.  Oh, you can probably jam those disks into the console but that's about as far as you're going to get.  Heck, all those PSN titles you bought?  Nope, not going to be able to play those either.

Earlier this week, we reported on a new Harris Poll that said, among other things, that 58% of 2,278 U.S adults (ages 18+) think that there's a correlation between playing violent games and violent behavior in teenagers.  Many of us were wondering exactly how the question that prompted that response was phrased.

GamesBeat seems to have secured the exclusive on a new poll from national polling outfit Harris Poll about video games. The poll, which questioned 2,278 U.S. adults found that nearly three in five adult Americans - or 58 percent - think that video games contribute to violent behavior in teenagers.

Last week we asked you to categorize your level of excitement for the PlayStation 4 - prior to all the details coming out of Sony's two-hour long press event. Exactly 504 votes were cast, with those of you looking for more information being beat out slightly by those who didn't seem to be interested in what Sony has planned with its next-generation console.

Last week we asked our readers: "Are you planning on checking out the Esquire Network?" In case you didn't hear, G4TV - the owners (NBC Universal) of the channel that was partially dedicated to geek culture, gaming, and technology (when it wasn't showing reruns of Cops, Cheaters, American Ninja, James Bond movies, etc.) announced that it would become known as the Esquire Network.

A few days ago, we reported that NBC Universal would be re-launching the G4 Network as the Esquire Network and that it would focus on men's culture.  New content will include cooking competition Knife Fight, American Ninja Warrior, Parks and Recreation, Party Down, and travel show The Getaway.

So, my question to you, dear GamePolitics readers: are you going to watch it when it launches on April 22?

Last week we asked our readers the following question: "Should public libraries allow patrons to play violent video games on its computers?" Thanks to all 389 of you that voted in the poll. Of those 389 votes, 45 percent (or 176 votes) of you said "yes," video games should be allowed in public libraries, while 41 percent (or 160 votes) said that no video games should be allowed in public libraries at all.

Update: Many of our readers pointed out that the question in the poll about video games was directed at Republican respondents, which explains why it was skewed negatively towards video games. Thanks to everyone who pointed that out to us.

Last week, the Paterson Free Public Library in New Jersey decided to ban the play of what it calls "direct-shooter" games on computers at its facilities.

If you follow me on Twitter, you're probably aware that I can't stand Activision's Skylanders games or Disney's upcoming Disney Infinity.  Both games require you to buy a bunch of figurines to unlock stuff in the game you already paid full price for.  This is an extension of that "on-disc DLC" stuff that many have been
