Report: 'Murdered: Soul Suspect' Developer Airtight Games Shut Down

A recent visit to the Redmond, Washington offices of Airtight Games by GeekWire revealed a startling find: the company seems to have gone out of business. According to the GeekWire report, the publication visited the offices yesterday to find it closed and a sign on the door advertising a "blow out sale" on the equipment inside.

Subsequent attempts to reach the studio have gone unanswered. In April the studio laid off 14 employees as part of what it called "necessary restructuring."

Report: Crytek UK Departures Could Put Homefront: The Revolution Development in Jeopardy

A new report from Eurogamer notes that the recent series of staff departures may put the ongoing development of the sequel to Homefront in serious jeopardy. Yesterday Kotaku reported that Free Radical Design co-founder Karl Hilton had left his role at Crytek UK as managing director. Company records "seen" by Eurogamer show that he left Crytek UK on May 28.

Report: Microsoft May Drop Xbox Live Gold Requirement from Entertainment Streaming Apps

According to multiple sources within the company, Microsoft plans to lift the Xbox Live Gold requirement for consumers who want to watch Netflix, Hulu and other streaming media apps on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Basically it means that consumers who buy a brand new Xbox One will be able to watch these services right out of the box without having to worry about having an Xbox Live Gold account. Of course you'll still have to set up a free Silver account in order to do anything.

Report: Comcast and EA Negotiating Game Streaming Deal

Electronic Arts and ISP Comcast are believed to be negotiating a game streaming deal, according to five independent sources speaking to Reuters. According to sources speaking to Reuters, Comcast will give some customers the ability to buy and stream EA titles through Comcast's new X1 operating system. X1 is only available in certain areas covered by Comcast at the moment.

Report: Activision to Merge Neversoft and Infinity Ward Studios

Report: GameStop Fighting Walmart's Used Games Business With Extra Store Credit

Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra have come out swinging against the media for reporting that Uncharted writer and lead Amy Hennig was forced out of the company by the creative leads on The Last of Us, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley. In a post on the official company site, the duo blasted the media for reporting the unconfirmed nature of Hennig's departure from the company. That report came from IGN who was told by inside sources that she was leaving the company and was forced out by Druckmann and Straley.

Michael Pachter Prediction: Games Sales Down 20 Percent in January

According to a research note from Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter to investors, game sales dipped 20 percent on the weakness of current generation sales in the month of January. Pachter is making his predictions ahead of the NPD Groups' retail report for the month of January. When those numbers are released on Thursday, Pachter says that they will show that retail software sales fell 20 percent in January to around $300 million - down 20 percent from the $373 million generated in the same period a year ago.

Report: Iranian Man Arrested by Government for 'Kill Dictators' Game on Kongregate

While we have no way to confirm it, one of our readers claims that a man whose game recently launched on Kongregate (owned by GameStop) has been arrested by the Iranian government and jailed. The game he was supposedly jailed for is "Kill Dictators," and as the title suggest, players are charged with killing various leaders inside and outside Iran including Bashar, Erdogan, Amhadi Nejad, Khameni, Nasrallah, and Putin.

Pachter: Sony Shipping One Million Units Per Month, Half Going to GameStop
