Microsoft has revealed a line-up of new and original shows that will debut on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. According to this Bloomberg report, the original programming includes a comedy sketch show with comedian Sarah Silverman, another with actor Michael Cera's JASH comedy group, and a stop-motion show with comedian and actor Seth Green's Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. Microsoft also plans a live broadcast of the Bonnaroo music festival in July.

San Diego's KGTV has a cool profile of Kristoffer Von Hassel, a five-year-old who discovered a security hole in the Xbox One account login. Kristoffer accidently managed to log in to his father's Xbox One account without knowing the password, according to the news station. He did this simply by entering spaces into the password prompt after failing to punch the right password in the first time.

External game storage support for the Xbox One is "coming soon," according to Microsoft's resident Xbox spokesperson Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. Hryb confirmed the news in an Xbox One subreddit.

Responding to a question from a Reddit user about the topic, Hryb said that external game storage support is "coming soon" but that he needed to check on the status of media storage support. Hryb also said that he would share details on if there will be external storage limits.

Phil Spencer has been named the new Head of Xbox at Microsoft. In his new role he'll be in charge of Xbox Live, Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Microsoft Studios. Spencer says that he will employ a "gaming first" philosophy at the Microsoft division, making sure that video games are the most important component of the Xbox One.

GameStop reported sales of $3.68 billion for the forth-quarter of 2013, a 3.4 percent increase over the $3.56 billion the company reported in the same period a year ago. It comes as no surprise that the retailer attributed the increase in sales to the launches of Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One in November of last year.

Microsoft today detailed what kinds of punishments it has in store for players who engage in bad behavior on Xbox Live in the not-too-distant future. Players will have reputation levels, and when those levels fall to the ‘needs work’ category will get "reputation warnings" from Microsoft.

Soon gamers will be able to share and gift games on Xbox One just like they can on Steam, according to what Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer told GameSpot in a recent interview. Speaking to the publication during GDC last week in San Francisco, Spencer said that Microsoft believes in a future where digital content is king.

eSports gaming league Major League Gaming announced that its Xbox 360 app has launched today in Australia, Canada, the U.K and the U.S. You'll need an Xbox Live Gold account to use it. The streaming video / entertainment app allows users to get direct access via the Xbox 360 to its programming on MLG.tv, a streaming service the league launched in November of last year.

Microsoft wants to encourage better behavior in online interactions on Xbox One by handing out rewards to players. While punishing players that engage in racist, sexist, homophobic, or generally unacceptable behavior while playing games online is always an option, Microsoft also wants to add a layer of incentives that might serve as a positive way to get players to behave themselves.

During the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week, Microsoft offered more details on some of the games that are coming to Xbox One as part of its self-publishing program, ID@Xbox. Microsoft revealed 25 games that are being developed through the program for Xbox One including 1001 Spikes by Nicalis, It Draws a Red Box by Other Ocean, and Roundabout by No Goblin.

Marc Whitten, best known as the chief product officer of Xbox at Microsoft, has left the company. Whitten has worked at Microsoft for the last 14 years and was key in launching all three Xbox systems, from the original console back in 2001 to the Xbox One last year. Whitten will take up the same role as chief product officer at wireless audio company Sonos.

While people are trying their best to hack the Xbox One controller this week to make it work on the PC, Microsoft say that such functionality is on the way at some point, and strongly pushed back at any suggestion that Microsoft didn't have plans to provide support for it on PC. Speaking in this NeoGAF thread, Microsoft director of product planning Albert Penello said that reports suggesting that Xbox One controllers will not work on PC are flat-out wrong.

EA has released a Titanfall release schedule for the digital versions of the game on Xbox One and PC through its Origin digital distribution service.

While the Xbox One version of the game launches in the U.S. Canada, Mexico and Brazil today, it won't be available in other regions around the globe until March 14. After a long wait Twitch game streaming is now available to Xbox One users. Twitch live broadcasting allows Xbox One owners to live stream their gameplay footage online in almost the exact same way that it does on PS4. The only caveat is that Twitch streaming is restricted to Xbox Live Gold users only - but you can't do much without Xbox Live gold on Xbox One or Xbox 360 anyway. Once the app is set on your Xbox One, you access Twitch broadcasting by saying, "Xbox Broadcast" to their Kinect sensor.

Ubisoft is apparently comfortable enough to give us a concrete date for the release of its open world game Watch Dogs. Much to the chagrin of Wii U owners, the company only offered a vague timeframe of "available at a later date." That later date will be sometime after the game releases worldwide on May 27 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Hopefully this will be the last time the game gets delayed.

New documents from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden cited in a new Guardian report indicate that UK spy agency GCHQ evaluated the potential of using the Xbox 360 (and now Xbox One) Kinect peripheral as a means to spy on people. The report also indicates that the agency also considered the usefulness of the PlayStation Eye as well.

Microsoft's Xbox One self-publishing indie program ID@Xbox continues to grow with the announcement today that 65 new members have joined the program including Tony Hawk developer Robomodo, Castle Crashers creator The Behemoth, and Limbo developer Playdead. ID@Xbox program director Chris Charla said that with the addition of today's new members, total enrollment in the program currently stands at more than 200 developers.

It may have taken them a lot longer than anyone would have liked, but Twitch has finally revealed just when users can start streaming their game experiences from Xbox One to the popular game streaming service. The timing of an update that will implement game streaming is more than a little coincidental too. Today it was revealed by Twitch CEO Emmett Shear that the update that will enable game streaming to Twitch on Xbox One will launch alongside the release of Respawn Entertainment's upcoming action game Titanfall.

Microsoft's chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi announced that a limited edition Titanfall Xbox One bundle will be released on March 11 in the United States. The bundle offers the standard edition Xbox One console, Kinect peripheral, wireless controller and headset, a download code for Titanfall and a voucher for one month of Xbox Live Gold. The bundle is available to pre-order at participating retailers and will cost $499.99.

Organizers of the Game Developers Conference today released the second annual "State of the Industry" report, which offers trend data based on game developers polled during last year's event. The data is based on the responses of 2,600 North American game industry professionals.

Around 40 percent of consumers will watch video on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones by 2018, according to a new report from research firm ABI Research. This the firm says, is in spite of strong efforts to bring online video to new devices such as Google’s Chromecast and new video game consoles from Microsoft and Sony.

The first Xbox One indie titles coming out of Microsoft's ID@Xbox program include a new "Worms game" from Team17 and NinjaBee's Nutjitsu, according to a tweet from Phil Spencer, Microsoft Studios corporate vice president.

Microsoft issued a brief statement today to Polygon offering assurances to players concerned about Killer Instinct being abandoned after news surfaced that Amazon had acquired the game's developer Double Helix.

A Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon that Microsoft Studios will be working with a "new development partner" on Killer Instinct for Xbox One going forward.

Microsoft will soon share its plans for Games With Gold on Xbox One, according to a recent tweet by Microsoft Game Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer. Spencer recently said on Twitter that details about the free monthly game giveaway program coming to Xbox One "will be coming fairly soon."

A NeoGAF thread reveals a bold initiative from Microsoft whereby they'll knock $100 off the price of the Xbox One for any consumer willing to turn in their old PS3 system. Electronic Arts announced financial results for the fiscal third quarter of 2013 that ended on Dec. 31. The company said that sales of next-generation software (PS4, Xbox One) were robust, but not enough to offset a massive decline in last generation software sales (PS3, Xbox 360). EA said that it was the number one third-party publisher of next-generation software, taking a 35 percent market share during the holiday season.

Microsoft has purchased the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games, much like it did with Halo. The company now owns the franchise and all previous versions of the game. The Globe and Mail has all the details on the deal, including the fact that Microsoft's Vancouver-based studio, Black Tusk Studios, will be in charge of the franchise moving forward.
