August 29, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

Filmmaker Uwe Boll is best known for his poorly received film adaptations of games including Postal, Blood Rayne, Far Cry, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Dungeon Siege, and many others. His films have almost always been universally panned and derided by critics, but that has never stopped Boll from continuing his career as a screenwriter, director and producer.

Activision's George Rose on Schwarzenegger vs. EMA

December 30, 2010 -

Activision Blizzard vice president and chief public policy officer, George Rose pens an editorial in the San Francisco Chronicle explaining why the "California ban of violent video games must go." One would expect that the opinion of a pro-industry lawyer would be that the law penned by State Senator Leland Yee and signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005 would be that it is wrong-headed over regulation and overreach on the part of the state.

The bulk of his ire is pointed at supporters of the law, who grasp at straws like "Postal" and cite studies that back up their positions on violent games:

Running With Scissors on SCOTUS Case

November 2, 2010 -

In a not-so-shocking press release today from Running With Scissors and its founder Vince Desi, the company behind the Postal series has a lot to say about tomorrow's battle in the U.S. Supreme Court. The cliff notes version of Desi's comments are simple enough - he believes his company and his games are getting lambasted on all sides. Desi, who has a flair for the dramatic, opens with the following:

Grand Theft Childhood Author Challenges Research on SCOTUS Case

October 30, 2010 -

The author of Grand Theft Childhood offers an intelligent, thoughtful rebuttal to the arguments (and the research data) being used by the State of California in the U.S. Supreme Court's review of Schwarzenegger v. EMA.

Cheryl K. Olson (Sc.D., Asst. Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School) offers an update that takes on the evidence that California is using in the case, and the conclusions drawn by politicians in their arguments. She also says that the law may very well backfire should the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling be overturned.

Would You Vote for This Man?

September 10, 2010 -

Channeling Howard Dean might not be the best way to advance a political career.

The Huffington Post has video of Councilman Phil Davison delivering an impassioned speech in his attempt to secure the Republican nomination for Treasurer of Stark County Ohio.

The performance was for naught however, as Davison did not get the nomination.

Election Campaign Goes Postal

October 10, 2008 -

Running with Scissors has released an election-themed poster featuring the Postal Dude, anti-hero of the ultra-violent Postal game series.

Also depicted is the Postal Dude's dog, Champ, a pit bull wearing Sarah Palin glasses.

RWS boss man Vince Desi explains, sort of:

Posters are a powerful medium. From politics to movies to your favorite musical group, young and old people around the world have been infected by this unique art form...

Postal Movie Scores Top Award at Hoboken Film Festival

June 16, 2008 -

Postal, the film based on the controversial video game series, has received the "Best of Festival" award at the Hoboken Film Festival, according to a press release from Running with Scissors.

Much-maligned filmmaker Uwe Boll was also named Best Director for his work on the Postal movie. Vince Desi (left), RWS boss and executive producer of the film, said:

When the fans speak, we win. We know this from our experience in the game industry and now the film business just confirms it. The continued success of the POSTAL franchise in all its forms is proof that democracy works; you cannot stop what’s in the hearts of the people. Freedom will always triumph over tyranny.

GP heard from Desi last week, and he offered some additional comments:

My goal was to have a theatrical release, that accomplished, the DVD comes out August 26th... [The Postal movie] ran three weeks in Georgia and South Carolina and two weeks in Chicago. Overall, we made it to around 18 cities.

My main focus now is Postal III for Xbox 360 and PS3 for next year...

james_fudgehe'd die if he couldn't talk about Wii U :)10/20/2014 - 9:16am
Michael ChandraBy the way, I am not saying Andrew should stop talking about Wii-U. I find it quite nice. :)10/20/2014 - 8:53am
Michael Chandra'How dare he ignore my wishes and my advice! I am his boss! I could have ordered him but I should be able to say it's advice rather than ordering him directly!'10/20/2014 - 8:52am
Michael ChandraIf GP goes "EZK, do not talk about X publicly for a week, we're preparing a big article on it" and he still tweets about X, they'd have a legitimate reason to be pissed.10/20/2014 - 8:52am
Michael ChandraIf GP tells Andrew "we'd kinda prefer it if you stopped talking about Wii-U for 1 week" and he'd tweet about it anyway, firing him for it would be idiotic.10/20/2014 - 8:51am
Michael ChandraLegal right, sure. But that doesn't make it any less pathetic of an excuse.10/20/2014 - 8:50am
ZippyDSMleeYou mean right to fire states.10/20/2014 - 8:50am
james_fudgesome states have "at will" employee laws10/20/2014 - 7:50am
quiknkoldIt says in the article that being in florida, you can get fired regardless if its a fireable offence10/20/2014 - 7:19am
Michael ChandraIf your employee respectfully disagrees with your advice, that's not a fireable offense. If they ignore your order, THEN you have the right to be pissed.10/20/2014 - 6:49am
Michael ChandraI... Don't get one thing. If you do not want your employee to do X, why do you tell them it's advice or a wish? Give them a damn order.10/20/2014 - 6:48am
james_fudgeA leak that had me worried about being swatted by Lizard Squad.10/20/2014 - 6:03am
james_fudgeIt should be noted that the author leaked the GJP group names online10/20/2014 - 6:03am
MechaTama31I mean, of the groups being bullied here, which of the two would you refer to collectively as "nerds"?10/19/2014 - 11:30pm
MechaTama31But that's the thing, it doesn't sound to me like he is advocating bullying, it sounds like he is accusing the SJWs of bullying the "nerds", who I can only assume refers to the GGers.10/19/2014 - 11:21pm
Andrew EisenInteresting read. Unfortunately, too vague to form an opinion on but at least now I know what faefrost was talking about in James' editorial.10/19/2014 - 10:39pm
