Humble Bundle For Android Sale Launches

The Humble Bundle is back, and for a fortnight it will be offering gamers three games that work great on Android devices. The games being offered in this latest pay-what-you-want bundle include Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Osmos, and EDGE. If you pay more than the average price, you will get the indie classic World of Goo. Naturally, all of these games work on Android devices, Windows, Mac and Linux.

Ken Weber Takes Reins of Zynga.org

Zynga wants to improve the charity work it already does and has found just the person to head up its efforts: Ken Weber. Weber, who previously worked with The One Campaign and Network For Good, will take the reins of Zynga's charity effort, Zynga.org.

"Essentially what we're trying to develop is a new platform for giving based on our games, integrated into the daily experience of playing our games," Weber recently told The Sydney Morning Herald.

Child’s Play Raises $3.5 Million in 2011

Children’s charity (powered by the goodwill of the game industry and the gaming community) Child's Play raised a total of $3,512,345 in 2011. The group also announced that it has raised over $10 million since its launch in 2003. The Humble Indie Bundle 4 has ended, and was the biggest bundle offering to date, selling 435,236 bundles for a total of $2,372,194.97. The AbleGamers Foundation Gives Grants to Three Disabled Veterans

Non-profit gamer charity The Ablegamers Foundation has awarded the Disabled Veteran Grant 2011 to three disabled veterans - just in time for the holidays. Humble Introversion Bundle Pulls in $778,643.57

The Humble Introversion Bundle closed earlier this week, selling 190,261 bundles for a grand total of $778,643.57.  The dough will be divided up between Humble Bundle itself, the developers of the games included in the bundle, and two charities: the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child’s Play.

As always seems to be the case, Linux users paid the most, averaging $8.78 with Mac users following at $5.90 and Windows users bringing up the rear at $3.40.

At the time of this writing, right around 163,599 bundles have been sold, raising approximately $666,831.18 so far. With five more says to go, it's possible that the latest DRM-free bundle offering from Introversion will beat last month's Humble Voxatron Bundle - which raised $902,448.

Desert Bus for Hope Raises Nearly $400k for Child's Play

The six-day charity marathon, Desert Bus For Hope, has finally made it to its destination and its cargo seems to be suitcases full of cash for the Child's Play Charity. After six full days (150 hours) of playing the ultra-boring "Desert Bus" mini-game from the unreleased Sega CD game Penn and Teller's Smoke and Mirrors, the group that included the creators of the Loading, Ready Run web show and other masochists managed to raise $378,895 for the Child's Play charity.

GamesAid Golf & Spa Day raises over £60,000 for Charity

UK game industry charity GamesAid announced the results of its recent Gem Golf & Spa Day event for charity. According to the group, they managed to raise £62,607.56 this year. The event, which took place on June 30, invited members of the game industry to play a day of friendly golf tournaments or get spa treatments. All proceeds will be donated to GamesAid's chosen charities. This year’s take was also a 19 percent increase over the 2010 event.

Gamers Outreach celebrates the fourth anniversary of their military division, Fun for Our Troops this month. The organization provides games and hardware to U.S. military troops - something it has been doing since its inception in 2007. Gamers Outreach collects new and used video game and console donations, which they use to create video game care packages for troops serving overseas in areas of Afghanistan and Iraq.
