Electronic Arts announced today that it has delayed the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall for an additional two weeks. Executive vice president of EA Studios Patrick Söderlund confirmed a further two week delay to the game, which will now hit North America on April 8 and Europe on April 11. The Xbox One and PC versions of the game were launched on March 11.

A web server belonging to Electronic Arts has been hacked and is now hosting a phishing website, according to what Paul Mutton from internet security firm Netcraft uncovered. Mutton said that hackers probably exploited a vulnerability in an online calendar application hosted on the web server to gain entry. The hacking group Derp has claimed responsibility for the hack and the phishing scheme. EA said that it is investigating Netcraft's claims.

The first round brackets for The Consumerist's "Worst Company in America" award have been announced, with plenty of companies familiar to downtrodden consumers for their poor service, generally bad attitudes towards customers, and policies that make using their products and services a living hell for some. Of note to video game fans is Electronic Arts going up against Time Warner Cable in the first round.

If you have been waiting for Electronic Arts and its wholly-owned studio EA Maxis to wrap up work on the offline mode for SimCity, the company's high-profile "always-connected" city builder that garnered a lot of attention for its troubled launch last year, then we have some good news for you: it's nearly complete.

If you are having issues with the Xbox One or PC version of Titanfall, EA and Respawn may have a fix for you on its Titanfall Known Issues and Troubleshooting Information page. The page addresses common bugs encountered in the game and offers work-arounds for some of them. It also lists "gameplay-affecting issues we're currently aware of and tracking," says EA.

EA has released a Titanfall release schedule for the digital versions of the game on Xbox One and PC through its Origin digital distribution service.

While the Xbox One version of the game launches in the U.S. Canada, Mexico and Brazil today, it won't be available in other regions around the globe until March 14. You can check out the big list below. The Xbox 360 version of the game launches March 25 in the U.S. and March 28 in Europe (list via CVG).

Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella said that neither his company or Microsoft will punish legitimate players who have bought the game early and decide to play it online. He does warn that those who do decide to play the game should expect some technical issues online prior to the launch of the game's servers in an official capacity.

While everyone else will enjoy Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall when it releases this year, it looks like gamers in South Africa will not be able to play the game. Publisher EA announced that it wouldn't be releasing the game in the region because of poor broadband speeds.

According to one Electronic Arts executive, consumers should not expect to see a price cut on last generation systems like the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 any time soon. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Technology conference in San Francisco this week, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said not to expect any movement on that front until the end of this year - possibly during or after the 2014 holiday shopping season.

Electronic Arts Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Co. sought to use the names and likenesses of college athletes in its video games, according to an NCAA document unsealed in federal court on Wednesday (as detailed in this LA Times report).

PopCap's upcoming game Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will "definitely not" have microtransactions when it launches, but PopCap Games producer Brian Lindley hinted that it could later on down the road. Confirming to GameSpot that the company had no plans to include such features at launch Lindley went to say that the company would look at the games metrics post-launch to figure out how to support it on an ongoing basis.

Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore says that his company's digital revenue will overtake its physical disc sales in two years. Moore made the comments during a conversation with Entertainment Software Association president Mike Gallagher at the Digital Entertainment World conference in Los Angeles, as reported on by Games Industry International.

Electronic Arts has finally canceled its Ultima-branded social online strategy building game Lord of Ultima. The game will officially shut down in May. The news isn't all that shocking for a number of reasons; the game - which is an Ultima game mostly in name only - never really captured the number of players EA had hoped for; and the development team working on the game, EA Phenomic, shut down last summer.

In (what comes off as) a contentious back-and-forth interview between Rock, Paper, Shotgun's EA chief creative officer Rich Hilleman, the EA executive vigorously defends the launch of Battlefield 4 and said that with big communities comes much more noise. The interview's tone was likely set by the tough on-the-spot questions by RPS and the setting for the interview (a red carpet interview on the spot as Hilleman was heading into the D.I.C.E Awards ceremony).

Peter Molyneux, creator of the original 1997 strategy game hit Dungeon Keeper, recently described EA's free-to-play mobile reboot as "ridiculous" in an interview with the BBC.

Since its release on iOS and Android versions, the new Dungeon Keeper has managed to raise the ire of fans and critics alike for forcing players to choose between spending significant periods of time farming resources, or to pay lots of real-world money to buy items that allow them to skip those requirements.

Electronic Arts is taking a bit of heat for its "free-to-play" mobile game, Dungeon Keeper. Besides players and critics complaining about how horribly the microtransactions are implemented into the gameplay, there's also accusations that EA is gaming the ratings system on Google Play.

The Guildford, Surrey (UK) offices of Ghost Games has been hit with layoffs, according Polygon. According to the report, EA told contractors for the Need for Speed Rivals developer that they were no longer needed and full-time staffers that they could either take a layoff with some compensation or help out at Visceral. Rumor has it that Visceral is working on a police-themed Battlefield title code-named Havana.

EA COO Peter Moore says that weaker sales of Battlefield 4 on last generation consoles are due to the turbulence of the console transition and not 'quality issues' that plagued the game's launch. EA announced last night that next-gen software sales were robust, but not strong enough to offset a massive decline in last-generation software during the holiday season.

Electronic Arts announced financial results for the fiscal third quarter of 2013 that ended on Dec. 31. The company said that sales of next-generation software (PS4, Xbox One) were robust, but not enough to offset a massive decline in last generation software sales (PS3, Xbox 360). EA said that it was the number one third-party publisher of next-generation software, taking a 35 percent market share during the holiday season.

A U.S. Federal Court judge has overturned the findings of a federal jury who ruled in favor of original Madden programmer Robin Antonick against Electronic Arts back in July of 2012. The jury came to the conclusion that Antonick, who served as the original programmer for the game since its first game until 1996, was owed royalties because subsequent games after his departure from the company used the same features created by the programmer when the game was first developed. 

Update: EA COO Peter Moore took to Twitter to say that one should not trust anonymous sources:

" Don’t trust 'anonymous sources.' Nintendo's a great partner. They never have been, and never will be, ‘dead’ to EA..."

The author of the CVG story, Rob Crossely, had a brief exchange with Moore, noting that the "anonymous source" was an "EA one."

While Microsoft (through a marketing partnership with Machinima) and Electronic Arts (through its "Ronku" marketing program) paying content creators to promote its games to followers on YouTube without disclosing the relationship may be unethical, neither company is breaking the law and it is unlikely that anyone involved could be fined for not disclosing a relationship according to what a Federal Trade Commission spokesperson tells Polygon.

Apparently Microsoft isn't the only one paying YouTubers for positive videos of games. According to a new report on Ars Technica citing a NeoGAF thread showing EA's "Ronku program," the company has been paying a generous $10 to $15 CPM (cost per 1,000 views) for videos that tie into marketing buzzwords and specific game features for its various games.

Electronic Arts has signed a long-term agreement with Professional Game Match Officials Limited that will run until the 2018/19 season and see match officials sporting EA Sports-branded gear, according to an MCV report.

Last year, Electronic Arts launched its new SimCity game and even though it is and always has been a predominantly single player game, the new title had no offline mode.  This decision was so unpopular that it's likely the major reason EA earned the Consumerist's Worst Company in America award for the second year in a row.

Earlier this week the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) attempt to become a party to a lawsuit regarding the rights of the NCAA and other entities to use athletes’ likeness in video games, publicity purposes, and other materials.

In calling for nominations for this year's "The Worst Company in America" awards, awards host The Consumerist says that Electronic Arts might be in the running for winning the dubious distinction for a third year in a row. According to the publication, EA is already getting a lot of nominations in the early part of the process.

Ten months after EA released its always-connected online-only SimCity game, the company has decided that it would finally make it so that players could build their own virtual metropolises offline. According to a post on SimCity's official development blog, the game will be playable offline next month after a major update.
